    Xbox app crashing while saying "This App Needs a Few Things That Are Missing on this PC"


    The Xbox app crashes when starting up it displays a message saying "This App Needs a Few Things That Are Missing on this PC. Fix them in settings" and I can't open settings before it crashes. I tried to sign into Xbox game bar but the sign-in button doesn't do anything and Xbox console companion displays "We are unable to sign you in at the moment. Try again later. (0x406)"

    I had this same issue after my last update and was able to fix it by:

    • opened services (its in settings or just search for it)
    • restarted "storage services" within services

    Just did a clean re installation of windows 10 and it's still crashing

    Hello Rob! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

    Sorry to hear you are having this issue. I have a couple of things you can check/try.

    1. Make sure that both Windows and the Xbox app don't have any updates pending, if they do, get them downloaded.
    2. Check the Windows Service called Storage Service is running. If its running, stop it, start it then load the app again.
