Xbox app crashes when clicking on Messages

I've submitted this via the Xbox App feedback features but I'll re post here just in case.

Xbox app crashes whenever I go to Messages. It just shuts down completely. Everything else works perfectly fine, the bug is only triggered whenever I go to Messages.

This has been happening on every device, my desktop PC, Surface 3 and even Windows Mobile 10.

Additionally, the Xbox website messages do not work for me either, I get the following error.

'It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.'

Xbox app crashes when playing videos

When clicking on a video in the activity stream, or in the store, the Xbox app will crash

If the video begins to play automatically in the activity stream, it will not crash. It's only when specifically clicking on the play icon.

This happens in both the built-in Xbox app and also the beta Xbox app in Windows 10

This worked for me and hopefully it does for you, unfortunately chat support was unable to assist.

Any how - if you are unable to access your messages on your Xbox App or your messages from Xbox.com there is currently a system message that is on your account that can be viewed on your smart device or xbox platform. I was unable to delete it while viewing
it on the Xbox One, to work around this I went on smart glass through my tablet where I was able to delete the system message from my account. After I did this I signed out of the Xbox App on my PC and signed back in and BOOM, back to normal.

I did not have to sign out of xbox.com, i simply clicked the link for messages and it was working as well.

same here when I try to access messages on the Xbox app either via my w10 phone or tablet the app crashes and if I try through https://account.xbox.com/en-GB/Messages I receive the following message.

Uh oh... that should not have happened. It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.

Currently the only consistent way to access messages is through the Xbox one, I've tried deleting all the conversations, with the only one I can't delete being one from Xbox live that just reads, "this is a system account, when you get another message, you
will see it here."

I've figured out that when using the desktop app if you click on the profile of the person you want to message and click message under their name you can send and read messages that way but it only shows that profiles thread.

 

Just found a solution on another forum thread.

• Download and install Xbox One Smartglass app from the store
• Launch Xbox One Smartglass & Sign in
• Click the Burger Menu and open Messages
• Right Mouse Button on the Xbox Live system message and click
  Delete Conversation
• Close Xbox One Smartglass
  
  
• Launch Xbox app from your W10 device
• Click on your Profile & Sign Out
• Sign In again and all should be fixed

I does look like its the Xbox Live system message that's causing the problem, maybe someone from the Xbox team could do something their end as the next time we get a system message we may have the same problem.

 

I have the same issue. trying the above suggestion now. Just one qestion, what is the 'burger menu' in the smartglass app?
