Xbox app crashes when clicking on Messages

I've submitted this via the Xbox App feedback features but I'll re post here just in case.

Xbox app crashes whenever I go to Messages. It just shuts down completely. Everything else works perfectly fine, the bug is only triggered whenever I go to Messages.

This has been happening on every device, my desktop PC, Surface 3 and even Windows Mobile 10.

Additionally, the Xbox website messages do not work for me either, I get the following error.

'It appears you have found a glitch in the system. Please try again later.'

same for me too. has been the same for days..

 

My Xbox app also crashes when clicking on the messages icon. This issue started this morning on my SurfacePro 3. Tried standard reboot, but still having the same issue. I can still access the messages feature directly from the XBOX1 Console. (For a
quick workaround - You can stream to your PC and access the message feature)

This is happening for me too and it started 3 days ago. Irritating as heck.

Same problem here. I am so over this. This makes looking for and joining other players so bloody tedious. For the money we all pay I would expect a solution within hours not days. Simply ridiculous that I can access every tab/page on xbox.com except for
messages. Here's an idea Microsoft ... FIX IT!!! FFS!!!

This worked for me and hopefully it does for you, unfortunately chat support was unable to assist.

Any how - if you are unable to access your messages on your Xbox App or your messages from Xbox.com there is currently a system message that is on your account that can be viewed on your smart device or xbox platform. I was unable to delete it while viewing
it on the Xbox One, to work around this I went on smart glass through my tablet where I was able to delete the system message from my account. After I did this I signed out of the Xbox App on my PC and signed back in and BOOM, back to normal.

I did not have to sign out of xbox.com, i simply clicked the link for messages and it was working as well.

I did as Zepp XO. And YES!!!! It is working again!

I had the same problem with Win10 Xbox app crashing when accessing messages. Also Xbox.com error message when trying to access messages. I searched and found that it was a message from XBox in my message box on my Xbox One causing the problem. I was able
to delete it by going to XBox SmartGlass on my phone and pressing/holding the green Xbox message until the delete option popped up then deleted it. Problem solved!!! Why did XBox send the message and why was it causing the problem. Took my over 1/2 hr of ***
around to figure out the problem and then figure out how to delete it. What a waste of time!!! If you have an Xbox One look all the way at the bottom of the message list for the green colored message from Xbox causing the glitch.

 

Confirmed, Zepp XO's fix worked for me as well. I had a system message from xbox live from 11/18 and deleted via smartglass for iOS. Now my xbox app for win10 opens up messages like a champ!

 

I was having the same problem on the Xbox Windows 10 app till I did what Zepp XO said to do, although I had trouble finding out where to sign out on it. The way to sign out on the Xbox Windows 10 app is you go to settings in the app and right below where
it says "General" and "Game DVR" you will see your account, click on your Account/ E-mail and below it, it will say sign out, click it then sign back in and it was fixed. For me.
