Xbox app closes when opening settings. No errors when closing. Windows 10 home, last update.

The New media remote is an alternate for the Kinect

Once using Smartglass with your X1, once it's open, check the box in settings to not close app while in use. That way it's ready at all times without unlocking opening app everytime you wish to pause rewind or play. Just a tip.

2) No, only with XBOX app

I have a same problem, and similar conditions.

Troubleshooter responds with message - Cache is probably corrupted..

Please suport. I would like to turn of automatic DVR which ruins my game performance,,,,

Kindly open Xbox app, click the profile menu in the top-left and select the Settings option. > General. Then turn off the “Automatically launch app at startup” option then clear the “Keep the app running in the background when I close it” option to prevent the app from running after closing the app.
