Xbox App can’t join party

I downloaded the Xbox app today to talk to my friends while I play with them from a seperate console. When they tried to invite me, a message came up saying ‘Update the app to join the latest version of parties’ or
something along those lines. However, upon checking the app store, there is no update available. I cannot talk to my friends now while playing a game. I tried starting the party myself then inviting my friends, and that works, but it’s a bit of a hassle if
my friends are already in a party and playing. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

And yes I have uninstalled over and over to no avail.
