Is it intended that uninstalling a game automatically deletes all save game files?

Because that's what the "Xbox App for PC (Beta)" is doing.

Just tested it by installing a game, making a save, uninstalling/reinstalling... the save I made was gone.

This is an incredibly archaic structure. Why would you do that? Saves should be kept locally, as well as backed up into the cloud and NEVER deleted without asking first (and even then probably not deleted)

This isn't 1990. Get with the times, old man.

Also, what in the sweet Christmas are you doing with file structures. It's like you don't want gamers to know where their games are installed or where their save files are. Stop making everything so damn complicated. You even have the folder default so
the ADMIN doesn't have access.

Xbox App for PC (beta) could be a strong, respected service , but instead it's going to become another ASCII middle finger, like Epic Store.

As a PC gamer and a user of Origin, Steam and GoG, not all games have cloud storage, it's not a given.

As for game location, while I agree it shouldn't be locked, it is possible gain access to the files location, at your own risk though.

And before anyone says it's not allowed, you're wrong. But it does have risks that your game/s may stop working.

I wonder if save games are managed by the game, or by the service as a whole. In Steam you have the same problem - some games still save their saves in their program data directory, which gets nuked during an uninstall. It all depends on the game.

Which game did you test with? I'm assuming something newer?

How soon between installing/playing/quitting/uninstalling did you do things?

Thank you for the overview of the cloud saves. Regarding the second question, am I able to access these files myself? I'm assuming not for the cloud saves as the Xbox(Beta) app is still rough around the edges and obscure but how about the local game files?

Hi,

I have a similar question in relation to transfer of game saves but within the Windows 10 Xbox Game platform.

I have started a game on my PC via the Xbox (beta) app. I would have assumed that I would be able to access the same game on a different PC.

However, after logging in with the same Microsoft account details there was no save files for me to load and no progress was transferred over.

Can you advise whether it is possible to access saves on different PCs? I would have thought these saves would be cloud based in this day and age... The game in question is called 'For The King'.

Any help would be much appreciated.
