Xbox app being able to make your friends see what games you are playing on steam.

Hii I was just wondering if you could help me with the xbox one app

Basically on this video they demonstrate what is to come this summer. This update has already rolled out to xbox one consoles and the xbox app i believe. If you watch this video that i send to you, you will see what i am talking about.

skip to 1:52 and they will speak about your friends being able to see what your playing on steam through the xbox app

He goes on to say ......"If your on your console playing a game and your friend is playing a windows game. You'll be able to see that they are playing a windows game from your console. Same in the Xbox app, if im playing an xbox game and your playing a steam
game for example I'll be able to see that your playing that game and I can message you and invite you to a party".

Will anyone be able to back me up on this please or be able to help me. Because i have spoken to loads of support teams and they just don't seem to know anything about this when it was clearly said on that Xbox you tube channel.

Xbox One gamercard

I also miss being able to see what games my friends are playing, all it shows at the moment when viewing from the forums is "playing xbox one".

Xbox one Companions/smartglass/companion games. Is something being made as a companion designed for xbox one?

When are we aible to see which games friends are playing on the xbone,from WP/W8 xbox app?i only see which games, friends are playing on the 360.....i only see "playing xbox one"...

The YouTube video is correct, and the Xbox app works properly.

If you think your friends will be able to "see" what you are playing that is not accurate. They will simply see that you are online and playing a game.

So it will not show my friends when i am playing a PC game that is on steam via the Xbox app. Because that is what he is saying within the video above, if you go to 1:52 on the YouTube video then you will see what i am talking about. He clearly mentions
the steam app and how your Xbox Live friends will be able to see what game you are playing via the Xbox app.

If it's one of the games in the Xbox Live database (including many of the most popular Win32 games), your "presence" line in the Friends list will show the name of the game you are playing. So your friends can see that you are online and which game
you are playing.

I play an FPS on Xbox and a football game on Steam. I have the Xbox and Steam apps running at the same time as the games because that way I can still communicate with friends on the other screen, and the FPS actually requires that you be signed in in order to be able to play. I think the same's true for the Steam game.

Something is happening to make this extra heat anyway.

I doubt Game Pass via Steam would make much difference. You'd still need the Xbox App to install most games or at least launch your games. I recently purchased Mass Effect Legendary on Steam, but it still needs the EA App to launch the game. Same as the Ubisoft games I bought need the Ubisoft Connect app still. Can't see this changing for Xbox Game Pass titles.

As above, since Steam would still need the Xbox App, there is little hope of running Game Pass games on a device like a Steam Deck as the Xbox App is preoperatory to Windows and can't be run on Linux. You'd still need Windows 11 on the Deck.

Just being linked in to Steam wouldn't make any different to the amount of games available. It's up to the individual Publishers and their deals with Microsoft as to what games are actually available.
