Xbox and Xbox for windows Cross licenses not existing

Hey,

A niche issue i'm hoping that someone can provide me the answer for.

Ive been playing on Xbox console since D2 launch, and bought all of the expansions on my console. However, please can someone explain to me why I cant access expansion content on the Xbox windows app? Ive paid Microsoft for the license, why does it matter if I access the game on my windows app or my console?

I understand completely that the expansion content wouldn't be available on steam as its a different platform, but the windows app for Xbox isn't a different platform, just a different way to use my game pass subscription and xbox live connection?

Can someone please explain to me why its been built to punish players over something so inconsequential?

Whether DLC is part of the play anywhere license is entirely dependent on the game developer and the publisher. Very few titles allow this

99% of games require re-purchase of content every single time you change platform or even digital store

Forza Horizon 5 will support cross-play and cross-save across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Steam will have support for cross-play, but cross-save with Xbox is not supported.

Your save file which includes progress and in game items on Steam is completely unique and separate from any pre-existing save file that’s associated with your Xbox Live gamertag. This includes user generated content like liveries. layer groups, etc...

the only way to check is by trying to change to that name

if you send a fruend request here it just means it doesnt exist on xbox servers

there is still zune and games for windows

as it doesnt cross servers but they do share the same system

Hi Bjoern.

Some games are not licensed or it doesn´t exist a port made for Xbox One by the publishers yet. But maybe in the future will, meanwhile you can play those games on your PC with Windows 10

Each digital game comes with a dual license, an Xbox license and a User license. The home Xbox uses the Xbox license and the Friend/family uses the User License. Ms wanted you to be able to play your games at a Friends house, this is why it exists. Op, Go
