Xbox and Microsoft account not syncing

I'm afraid Microsoft accounts cannot be merged. Any reason why you used a separate MS account to sign up for Microsoft 365?

(Xbox profiles use the same MS account system as Microsoft 365)

The only option you have is to add both accounts to the same Microsoft Family group as an organiser, but the logins will remain separate.

Sync your console with the same account as your PC.

Your Microsoft account is the determining factor.

Xbox account is a Microsoft account. Don't confuse the two.

The account may have a gamertag attached to it.

2FA access to your account with the Authenticator app on mobile is a simple step to sync.

You may need to factory reset the console and re-input your details, but this shouldn't be necessary, all things said and done.

nope, if purchased via Microsoft store then you need to load up on an Xbox console with an Xbox account that is linked to an epic account then it will sync, you cannot just purchase on the Microsoft store via pc and have it auto transfer to the epic account.

ok thanks revtony (this is my main Xbox account)..... So If i can migrate the gamertag to the micorsoft account, would there be a way I can change the e-mail / microsoft account associated with this gamertag so that it is connected to my main Microsft account
that is already synced with my Windows 8 PC, Because if I want to use any sync options or Smart Glass between windows 8 and Xbox, it would need the GamerTag to be associated with the Microsoft account.
