xbox adaptor not working in windows 10/11 tried everything please help!!

Hi all,

I did ask this last year & didn't get resolved in the end as i formatted and started again worked for a while ,,,anyway...

I hope someone can help with this driving me a bit loopy to say the least!!

i have two machines desktop & laptop windows (latest version)

Xbox one adapter been working fine on my desktop for ages suddenly it stopped working...it now longer can see the controller..but still ok on the laptop!

Heres what i have tried

1. Uninstall the drivers completely right click uninstalled from device manager and uninstall drivers, downloaded the driver from windows catalog and installed again

2. Went to add bluetooth device under everything else (xbox adaptor) in control panel, the white light flashes and obviously the controller as well when on Pairing mode the adapter does not pick it up..

3. I have tried just pressing the button on top of the USB adapter and it still doesn't pick it up

4. Tried different xbox controller no joy

5. Tried all 5 usb ports no joy...

6. Got the correct drivers as i have the slim version of the adapter version 1790

7. manually removing the drivers from system32 and re-install

8. updated all drivers (what was available) for the motherboard , hardware etc,

9. verified device manager has no errors.

10. changed batteries!

11.Done firmware update on the xbox controller

11.Upgraded desktop to windows 11 !!! still no Joy!

12. updated the bios and chipset drivers

if it helps i have the slim xbox wireless adaptor and the driver version 1.0.46.1. and xbox series S controller

anything else?? Well i have a laptop as mentioned plug the usb in there same versions of windows 10 works wonders!!!!!

Now you probably thing faulty usb ports well its not because i have a VR head set in some ports and works fine i can also hardwired in the xbox controller and works ok now in any usb ports

please please tell me another thing to do?!?

As far as other people have had similar problems but not tried it on a laptop lol which again works ok... it might be an update that has caused it?? Im not re-installing windows as some else has done!!!

seems silly £30 usb stick that only works on one but not the other!!

there must be a solution to this ?!? Any reg keys to delete?? i heard a security update breaks the adapter??

Based on the extensive troubleshooting you've provided; I have nothing more to add. We don't recommend registry edits. Please report this problem on the Windows Feedback Hub to help Xbox further investigate.

Posting here is great but we need it reported in the Windows Feedback Hub (Win Key + G) if you haven't already done that yet. Please include all troubleshooting steps in the body of the post. In the title, putting "Xbox Forums" will help us find it easier.

Hi thanks for your reply I have posted it here on Greg’s recommendation..he is from the windows team on the Microsoft community as well...but looks like we are not getting anywhere unfortunately he has been helpful there..

We basically tried everything from your side.
If you want please proceed with the custom Windows installation

You can reinstall windows 10/11 or update/downgrade to 11/10

I have already tried everything mentioned still doesnt help, I had to roll back to windows 10 and it started working automatically. This basically seems like a Windows 11 issue.
