  1. Xbox Adaptive Controller Software

    Hi guys and gals!

My question is about button behaviour. I'm a c5/c6 quadriplegic that currently controls my xbox with this type of controller:

Xbox Gaming Remote for Disabled People | LP Accessible Technologies

Because it's difficult for me to hold down the buttons, I've modded the unit so that I can switch between two different button behaviours. 1. Normal and 2. on/off (press the button once and it thinks it's pressed down - press it again to release).

Will it be possible for me to do something like this with the adaptive controller software?

Thank you Microsoft, for creating this for us with disabilities. MUCH appreciated.

    Kind regards.

    :)

    Hey David,

First thing that comes to mind would be Using co pilot along side the adaptive controller. Co- pilot allows 2 different controllers to control player one,
And it works perfectly along side the adaptive controller. Aside from that, here are some helpful links to check out if you haven't already :

    Xbox Adaptive Controller Software

    Hey there!

Not sure if you have tried looking here
xbox.com/adaptive-controller but there is a lot of information about this new and awesome controller! I do now that it does state "Stores three on-board custom profiles and one default profile. Instantly switch configurations with the Profile button."
so you can have different profiles/settings as well as " Includes two large, easy-to-press, and programmable buttons – built into the device". Not 100% for certain on the exact feature you are asking about, but if I find out any more information other than
what is already posted at the link above I will be sure to let you know!

  5. Thank you for the reply, Chae247! - I've tried to find the information many places without any luck yet. - It looks as if the software is a lot like the software there's already available to the elite controller - and I don't think the feature is in there,
unfortunately. But I'm not sure yet. Xbox Adaptive Controller Software :)

  6. I'm massively curious about the XAC myself because an injury has left it impossible for me to use the dual sticks on a normal controller. I mean, I know that I shouldn't complain, I'm not exactly disabled but the chronic pain just means that a normal controller
is never, ever, ever gonna happen for me again. Period. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a lot of info beyond their slick pre-order web page out there either. But, here's what I've been able to find/figure out so far:

According to several of the interviews during E3 concerning the XAC, the folks over at Microsoft have been getting some serious pressure from the current CEO about accessibility. Period. In fact, I have gained the impression that it's getting a lot of tails
twitching. Supposedly, it's not just a rights thing- it's monetary. One of the major points I kept hearing is that GenX is getting older and we're starting to show some accessibility problems as a generation as a result. Since we grew up with gaming, the
desire to be able to keep gaming is pretty high and our $$$ will go to the first company to let us do that. The CEO has apparently decided that Microsoft is going to be that company. So, they got a real monetary reason to keep developing the XAC after
    first release.

(Personal side note? I think it's actually pretty damned smart because, they're right. Older gamers aren't going to want to suddenly stop gaming just because they got older and developed either an injury or illness that makes normal gaming difficult if not
    impossible.)

Another comment that kept getting bandied about during the various interviews was "this is just the start, we'll be making changes and developments as we see what gamers are doing with it." To me, this means that we might actually be able to believe them
this time because, that says that they're going to be gathering data for their analytic engines as well as continuing to keep an eye on and dialogue with the various groups that are already hacking solutions to our gaming problems in order to build on their
core programming. So, that's even more pressure to keep working on the XAC as well as a reason to believe that they're probably going to bring the more popular features online first.

On the other side of things, a comment that wasn't made a lot but that I did still hear a couple of times was "not just for gamers with accessibility issues." This tells me that they're pretty sure that the modding and hacking community are going to probably
go ballistic working up their dream rigs with the XAC once it gets released. Yeah, yeah, I know, who cares, right? Well, if the controller gets popular that'll just push for more and better support for it imho and, also, yeah, button mapping like the one you're
using will no doubt be a part of that because that's a really, really big feature with that crowd. So, there's obviously a need/desire to either have or get those macros working pretty fast as one of the more (if not most) popular capability.

So, basically my takeaway is this:

There's a lot of money at stake and Microsoft knows it so, they're going to keep adding features and tweaking to add capabilities that they're seeing folks trying to use.

The hardcore build-your-own-rig crowd are indeed probably going to love
tinkering with the XAC so, I expect it to be popular with them too and since they outnumber us, Microsoft is no doubt going to pay attention to what they're doing.

The hardcore build-your-own-rig crowd also love, love, love their macros and autofire (button behavior just like you're using iirc) seems to be one of the most popular.

All of this together tells me that if it's not already a part of the XAC at release that I'd still stay tuned because it's probably already in the works or, at the very least, at the very tippy top of their To-Do List.

On a personal note, I also think the same thing about the buttons on a joystick being able to be mapped allowing for a dual joystick configuration that'll let gamers like me be able to use the trigger or any other buttons that can be reached easier/faster for
XY/shoulders/triggers/etc/etc/etc instead of having to purchase/make, program, set up, mount, etc, etc, etc separate buttons for each one onto a flat surface.

Here's to hoping, right? Xbox Adaptive Controller Software :D

Are the controllers updated to the latest software? https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/accessories/update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

How do we update the controller? NO USB Cable comes with Xbox One.

About updating controller, To use the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter with your Xbox One Console, you’ll need to update your Xbox One Controller with the latest software to support the Adapter.

    This is from:
    support.xbox.com/.../update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

So Titanfall controller update is done by over air, no cable, (February update) and Stereo Headset Adapter controller update you need an cable, which comes with the adapter (March update).
