Xbox adaptive controller no longer drawing power from PC

I recently purchased an adaptive controller to use with my PC as part of my setup to cope with a muscle disease that limits my computer use. It was working fine for a few days but died suddenly and will no longer turn on. I cannot get it to light up at all
or be recognized by the computer. I have tried the following without success:

    - plugging into both my desktop and my laptop

    - trying a different USB-C cable

    - power cycling the computers I try to connect to

    - trying different ports

    - ensuring no other devices are connected via USB

    - disconnecting my peripherals (just a couple footswitches that shouldn't require extra power anyway)

    - confirming that my kindle will still charge when plugged into my laptop

While it was working I was trying it out in conjunction with the Xbox Accessories App and reWASD (3rd party remapping software).

My best guess is that the controller never charged from the USB connection to my computer and the internal battery finally ran out. Is the power adapter more necessary than I thought? Is my device defective? Is it upset it has no Xbox One to connect with?

    :)

    Hi JesseNieboer,

sorry to hear. Maybe you only have to check this:

    • Check if there are Updates pending in the Store APP: Select the Start
button, and then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select See more/Downloads and updates/Get updates.
    • Check if all 4 XBOX Services and the 2 gaming service are running (via taskmanager).
Hope this helps and please keep us informed

There are no updates to be had, but can you list the specific services I should be looking for? Thanks.

Thanks for keeping us informed. Here the Services:

    • XblAuthManager / Xbox Live Auth Manager - Provides authentication and authorization services for interacting with Xbox Live.
    • XblGameSave / Xbox Live Game Save - This service syncs save data for Xbox Live save enabled games.
    • XboxGipSvc / Xbox Accessory Manager - Provides for example the controller
    • XboxNetApiSvc / Xbox Live Networking Service - This service supports the Windows.Networking.XboxLive application programming interface.
    and GamingServices and GamingServicesNet.

I do not owne an adaptive controller but maybe you check also at the devices control if there is a new Driver.

    Hey there
    JesseNieboer
    ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for help with this. I can totally understand how confusing this could be. IF the troubleshooting steps that you have tried and that is outlined in The
buttons on my Xbox Adaptive Controller aren’t responding
or My Xbox Adaptive Controller won’t turn on don't resolve the issue,
then I would indeed say that your controller might be experiencing a hardware problem. I suggest following the steps outlined here on

How do I replace my Xbox Adaptive Controller?
    to have your product replaced.

    Hope this information was helpful.

    Thanks!

Ummmm VG If there is no AC adapter, the power is coming across it's usb connection from the X1, it's drawing its power from there, plain and simple.
