    Xbox Adapter for Windows not connecting


    I have been using my son's Xbox adapter to use the controller on my PC for a couple of weeks. It has worked flawlessly. Plug it in, press the button, press the other button, wait a minute and everything is golden. So, I know the system works without any
    hassle at all.

    I purchased my own adapter, plugged it in and pressed the buttons but the controller and the adapter will not synch at all. The lights slowly blink then turn off. These are the steps I have tried so far:

    1. updated the drivers
    2. uninstalled the device and auto-reinstalled it when I plugged it in
    3. tired 4 different USB ports (for the record, the older adapter works on all 4, the new adapter doesn't work on any)
    4. Used the controller hard wired to all 4 USB ports, all successful.

    The one thing that everything has in common in all of this is the new adapter. The ONLY difference I see when I plug it in is the device manager lists the old adapter as:

    • Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, and the new one is listed as
    • Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows #2

    Is there a step I could be missing? I can't see why one works and the other doesn't ... I don't want to send it back as defective when the problem is me and not the adapter.

    Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully providing an answer.

    Xbox Elite Controller 2 will not connect VIA usb or Bluetooth to my pc

    The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.

    The Xbox One Wireless controller with Bluetooth can be connected to a Windows 10 PC with a USB cable, Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10, so yes, it can be connected via the adapter. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is not
    compatible with an Xbox 360 controller and will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. I'll provide the support articles with this information:

    No the 360 adapter is not compatible with the xbox one controller. But if you get the newer Xbox / Windows controller, it has built in bluetooth to connect to a windows computer without and adapter.

    No problem! To answer your second question, yes the power adapter is compatible for Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Windows 10 and is the only Kinect adapter available. You can use the adapter to connect a Kinect for Xbox One to an Xbox One S or an Xbox One
    X or you can use the adapter to connect either a Kinect for Xbox One or Kinect for Windows v2 to a Windows 10 PC.
