Xbox Account Password Issues

So I went back to college today, taking my Xbox back with me. While home for winter break, I was asked to sign in with my password when logging on the Xbox. No issues, everything worked fine. Now, apparently my password, which has worked to perfection
for the last month isn't correct, which is weird due to the fact I never changed it during this time. Normally when this happens, I just unplug the Xbox and then connect it back to the wifi, which normally gets the job done. This time, however, I wasn't
able to log in to my outlook account either, which is strange considering this has never happened to me before. I was on both my xbox and the account online so none of this makes any sense and I'm terrified I might have to hard reset and potentially lose
all my data and progress, especially with cloud saves games on the account. Is there anything I can do?? Does going through the password reset process and giving correct information lead to a new password being given? Or is this account, and all the games
and time that have went into it, a lost cause?? Any help would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Hey there Robert,

Sorry to hear you are running into this problem. The console that you are trying to log in is the same one that you used throughout your winter break? In this case I would confirm that you are logging into the correct account with the correct email address.
Make sure the Gamertag Matches as well. Also go ahead and take a look at our support article for Recovering and Resetting your lost

Just some additional information you should be aware of:

The Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 emulation software on the Xbox One and Series X is quite fussy with passwords. It may display an error with passwords that it has issues with, even if these passwords work fine on the main account of an Xbox One or Series X console.

Keep your password to less than 11 characters.
If your password has special characters (such as !"%@~#) these can cause issues. Also passwords with spaces can also have problems.

Bear in mind there is no such thing as an Xbox 360 account an Xbox One account or a Series X account. Your Microsoft/Xbox account will work on all Xbox Online services on different consoles and PCs.

I recently had this problem and wasn't able to find any clear answers on xbox support. The issue was that one of the secondary accounts on my family pack couldn't log in to xbox live. The account was giving "the username or password is incorrect" error.
The primary and other secondary accounts on the family pack could log in without any problems. What you'll need to do is request the password to be reset for the individual secondary account that has the issue. Ensure that when you request the password
reset, you use the actual email address that the secondary account uses. The xbox displays this address for the secondary account when you attempt to login with it. It should be *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***. An email will then be generated and sent to the primary account
holders email address where you'll then have to click a link to confirm it and then change the password. This won't change the password for any of the other accounts on the family pack, only the particular one that has the issue. (*** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***)

I think the cause and confusion of these family pack login issues is that the secondary accounts' passwords can differ from the primary account's password.

Hello Emathio,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are experiencing issues with downloading your profile to an Xbox 360 E. The Xbox 360 will not let you download your profile with a password that is too long. You wouldnt see this issue
on the other devices/sites you are bringing up, so you may want to consider shortening your password to a 12 digit one max. Please let us know if this helps. If the issue persists, don't forget you can change your password back to what it was.
