Xbox account is registering as a new account

After changing my password, I signed in to my Xbox and found it no longer registered I owned any of my games. When I signed in Fortnite it was a brand new account with none of my stuff either. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hello Josiah, this is weird, a simple password change doesn't do that to an account.

Just to try, I registered a new xbox account and I tried to redeem the code with the new account, but I receive always the same error code.

At this point I think that there is a problem with the Xbox Store, because the chat support said the the code is valid, the xbox account has to be correct (I registered a new account just to check this), the xbox settings are correct (all is set to Italy)...

What should I do?

Sorry, but keys are linked to the account they were originally posted to and cannot be changed. You'll need to purchase a new key for the game if you want to continue playing it.

Yes, you need to register the new one as a Microsoft Account at signup.live.com then on your Xbox go to Settings -> Account -> Account Security -> Change Microsoft Account.

You bought the game on an old account so the game is only for the account you bought the game for. But if you have a registered old account on your Xbox and your new one. And from the old just switch the account to the new one, then you can play the game
with the new account.
