Xbox account hacked and gift cards purchased?

I got an email yesterday morning that my Xbox account has unusual login activity and two $20 gift cards were purchased using my PayPal account. I reset my password and contacted Xbox support, they had me request a refund but it was denied. I then contacted support again to let them know it was denied and they told me to reply and dispute the decision to deny my refund and explain what happened in more detail. They denied my request again. I contacted support for a third time and they actually put in a refund request on my behalf and flagged it as a priority, and I just got an email saying my request was again denied.

My account was hacked and these gift cards were unauthorized purchases using my PayPal. Is there anything more I can do to get a refund for this? I’m shocked at the Xbox/Microsoft Refund decision and how many times I’ve had to reach out to support for no resolution to come out of this.

Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The Microsoft account balance is essentially the same as a gift card since funds typically come from Xbox gift cards.

Hello, Sorry that happened to you. Did you try to call them, If you call them they will probably ask if you know the card number or have you speak to a specialist? Hope this helps. let me know what happens

In cases like your so when filling out the form you will have an option that asks you if there were purchases that were not made by you and were made after I lost the account.

Im sorry to hear that you got denied, If you put in a Refund Request that got denied Multiple times you cannot do anything about it except from appeal their decision again, Here are some steps to protect you're account from Hackers in the Future If your Xbox account has been hacked.

1. Change your password immediately: This will help prevent further unauthorized access to your account.

2. Enable two-factor authentication: To add an extra layer of security to your account, enable two-factor authentication. This will require you to provide a code sent to your phone or email in addition to your password when logging in to your account.

I'm afraid everything that Xbox support had you do is all that you can do in regard to refunds. Have they already assisted you in securing your account? The best advice we can provide here in the threads is to request a refund via this link.

There is no other way to request a refund other than what you just did, which is to contact Xbox Support.
