    Xbox account games turning down system volume.


    Whenever I open a game from the Xbox app or any game from Steam that uses my Xbox account (for instance Sea of Thieves) the volume of every other app gets turned down while the game volume seems to be boosted. It's not a day-ruining issue, but it's frustrating every time I want to talk to my friends while playing Sea of Thieves I have to turn Discord volume up and then turn my headset volume down; then when I want to play another game, I have to change everything back.

    What I've tried

    - I've looked through the settings, drivers for my headset, and all relevant audio devices.

    - I've looked through Steam settings and haven't found any setting that would do that.

    - I've looked through the Xbox game bar to see if there was a setting; but found none.

    - I've looked through the Xbox app and found nothing.

    What could be causing this, and is there any way to disable it, as I would much prefer setting my volume once for a game and not having to worry about it every time I boot up the app.

    Hello!

    Have you tried turning down the headset volume in the volume mixer? My headphones use to cut out as well, turning the volume down solved the issue. If the headset only cuts out in one game, maybe try to turn down the volume in said game. If this doesn't work

    so will the option of being able to tune audio volume when using Kinect for chat will that still work for if your not using Kinect and using the headset in party chat? cause right now I'll go to party chat but cannot tune what volume the xbox feels like
    turning the volume down to and to me the xbox turns the volume down way too much for me.

    Have you tried a 2nd headset? Sometimes those volume knobs and mute switches on headsets where out and can cause issues like this.

    If you have tried another headset also be sure to test a 2nd controller and also go into the system volume settings and make sure the volume for voice hasn't gotten turned down at the system level
