Xbox account email address

Hi I've been trying now for a few weeks to recover my old xbox account that I've not been on for many years. It got hacked by a friend a while back and it ended up getting recovered by microsoft after a very long process and it got given a randomly generated
email address that I no longer remember or have access to, I have no idea what email is on the account and I've tried everything I can think of to try and find out or recover it but I have had no luck doing so, microsoft support is just running me around in
circles and is providing no help at all because in the end in order to find out the email address on my account I need to first give them the email address that's on the account, not sure how I'm suppose to do that but yeah...

Does anyone have any suggestions that can help me get my old account back?

Just change the email address on xbox account 2 to some free email address and once that is done change the email address on Account 1 to the address that was on account 2.

if your email address is a Microsoft email (@hotmail, @live, @outlook) then you wont be able to remove your account from the Xbox account.

removing Microsoft email accounts from Xbox accounts permanently deletes the email account and you will no longer be able to access it

all you can do is add an alias email address then promote that to be the main email address.

Hi there,

you can't merge accounts itself or fully move the Xbox Live Account to a different Microsoft Account, but something that could work for you is changing the primary email address for the Microsoft Account.

My assumption what steps might be required are:

- Change the primary email on the New Unused Xbox Account account to something else (you might need a new MS account/email for that) so that the Wanted email address is no longer attached to a Microsoft Account.

- Change the primary email on the Old Xbox account to the new wanted email address, so that that Wanted email address can be used to sign in to the Xbox main account.

the microsoft account is the email and xbox account, if your parents used their account to create your xbox account then they still own that account, changing the primary email and deleting their email address just basically means changed your parents email address and if they had used their original address to sign into other services across the net then you have just broken all of that.

as you changed the email address the email inbox will still belong to them and they will still receive emails.

you need to create your own account.

As stated by Xbox Forums Ambassador steeledwand7664, by providing the Gamertag of the account to
Xbox Customer Support they should be able to assist you with recovering your account.

You will then be able to reset the password of your account if you do not remember what it is. However, keep in mind that you will need to verify that you are the owner of your account, if this cannot be done, Customer Support will be unable
to assist you further in this matter.
