Xbox account - credit/ debit card

I've tried adding my card payment details to my xbox but everytime I click save. It returns me to the "set up" a payment page again.

Why isn't my card being added to my account? It's on my Microsoft account.

I'm not able to make any xbox store purchases.

This is incorrect.

Your debit card uses either MasterCard or Visa for processing(if not, then you couldn't use it on Live anyhow), in which case any purchases NOT done with a PIN are protected the same as a credit card. If you debit card is compromised and money is spent, then you just file a claim with your bank, and while they do the investigation they will reimburse any money lost.

If a PIN is used on a purchase then you will be liable, but even then not 100%, if there are criminal charges filed then the banks will work with the consumer to resolve the issues, though it can take a long time(in which case you would be with out your money).Click to expand... You're correct. I only ever use my debit card at ATMs. Forgot that it has CC capabilities. Still, I'd prefer to use a CC that is not directly tied to my bank account.

Buying something does it tell you to add a card?

It does for me, and I don't have one on Microsoft account either - so that is expected.

Do you really need to enter on two places?

Thinking it sees the same card and ignore you adding the same again.

You do not need a credit or debit card on your account if you use an Xbox 360. I purchase Xbox 360 & original Xbox games on my Xbox 360, and have never had a credit or debit card on my account. I only use gift cards.

If Occurs,Please go to Account management,Change Debit/Credit card

Remove old one,That expired

Hello Malate,

This is most often due to not having either a Paypal account or debit/credit card tied to your Gamertag.

If you are able to use an actual Xbox 360 to 'purchase' the game, that would eliminate the need for either Paypal or a debit/credit card and you would be able to download the game on Xbox One.

Alternatively, if you add either a Paypal account or debit/credit card to your account that should work too.

You cannot use a debit card to set up an account and most pre-paid credit cards will not work. However, most banks are now using a debit/credit card for accounts. Why not check your bank out and see if they have that feature as that card will work for
the account.

Quick thing about credit cards and debit cards...

Microsoft most likely placed an authorization of the new Xbox onto your card. That means they asked your bank to hold the funds aside so you don't spend it. On a true credit card, it will show up on your statement as a pending charge. On a debit card,
it shows up as a charge. Even though your debit card has a VISA or MasterCard logo on it, it doesn't run as a credit card. Since your debit card is directly linked to your checking account, the authorization holds the actual money, whereas on a credit card,
they hold credits.

As for waiting 7 weeks, that is ridiculous, so sorry it's happening to you...
