    Xbox Accessories App on PC - Sync data or Infinite Load Screen when trying to map Xbox...


    Every time I open Xbox Accessories App on PC to map my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, I get stuck at a "Syncing data, we will be done soon" screen that never moves past 0%. If I click cancel then I get a screen with a silhouette of the controller in the background and an infinite loading animation. I have tried the following: Updating, uninstall/reinstall, sign out/sign in, repair, reset, troubleshoot the Xbox, Xbox Companion, Xbox Live, & Xbox Accessories apps. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled the controller & drivers. My windows, all apps, and controller all have the latest update. I'm led to believe there's a required process not running or functioning correctly. What services are required to run when opening the xbox accessories app? What can I do to fix this as the app used to work fine before about 6 months ago?

    I am here again to check up on you. I feel like you still need help with your concern, and I would love to give you additional information/troubleshooting for your concern.



    Based on my additional research, and consultations from other technical experts, we have gathered the following results. Please try to follow the additional steps below.

    Do you run a 3rd party Anti-Virus program (Avast, Norton, Kaspersky, anything not made by Microsoft)?

    Or maybe 3rd party gaming apps like Razer? If so, try uninstalling them as, while they may not be the issue, they can create conflicts.

    Might be worth running the following command in an elevated command prompt:

    sfc/ scannow

    That will check for any issues with your Windows and attempt to fix them if there are any

    Beyond that, given everything you have done already, I'd personally reinstall Windows...this would give a completely clean platform to see if it then works...it if does, then something was wrong with your Windows environment...if it doesn't then it would point to an account issue of some sort

    • Install Windows from the above

      Run Windows Update till no more show and restart as told to

      Install Graphics drivers direct from the manufacturer of your graphics card (if it's NVIDIA, choose custom install and then deselect the Audio component...has been having issues recently)

      Install Gears 4 from GP before installing anything else.

    Hi Geri,

    Thanks for your help. I do not have any 3rd party security services or gaming apps like Razer. I have some NVIDIA apps, Alienware Apps, & Xbox Apps. I ran the command prompt scan you asked me to. It did find some corrupt files & repaired them. The Xbox Accessories App still has the same issue. I found out my friend also has the same issue. If I click "Cancel Syncing" I get a screen that says "data from your game will not be saved or synced". I am illiterate in these things, but what data from my game would I need synced to my controller?

    I would prefer not to do a clean Windows install bc of the hassle and it's not guaranteed to work. It's a Microsoft issue created by Microsoft but Microsoft doesn't know how to fix the issue. That's just crazy.

    Also, make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed, it works with the Xbox App.

    Right....I updated that. Right after the new update, the spatial audio when playing a video game sounds like a fishbowl. So after updates: I can no longer customize my xbox controller layout, I can't type in the search bar, and my sound settings went from fantastic to absolutely horrible. Microsoft offers zero acknowledgement, zero fixes, zero responsibility, and zero support. They can't even troubleshoot or pinpoint an issue because they don't even know what they changed.
