Xbox Accessories App Not Updating Elite Controller

Not sure if anyone has run into this problem yet. I'm on the latest preview for the Xbox One and I received my elite controller yesterday! It's absolutely fantastic, but I'm running into one issue when prompting the new Xbox Accessories app to customize
the buttons. After I name my controller it's telling me an update is needed. There's a picture of the Controller and under there's a box saying update needed. Problem is I can't select this. I have my controller plugged in with the cable so it's obviously
reading it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and even done a hard reboot and it still won't let me update. Is this a glitch, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Mine is doing something similar, it moves past that screen to another that says you must update the app and when I try to it says there was an error and he update did not work

I'm having the same issue. I managed to get the app to respond one time while the controller was connected. That lasted for just the one instance.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it works fine now. The previous time I attempted this caused no change. Not sure if I was just lucky this time or not.

This is a widespread issue for everyone using the Xbox Accessories App. You can update the Elite controller if you have a physical Xbox console, but the current Xbox Accessories App does not have an option to update an Elite controller. Other Xbox hardware, such as non-elite Xbox controllers or the Xbox Wireless headset do have update UI that works, but the Elite does not show that as an option, possibly because the UI button was replaced with "Rename".

Refreshing, reinstalling, updating the App or Windows will not fix this issue. Microsoft needs to update the Xbox Accessories App with a fix. That's the only way to solve this issue that Microsoft created.

Hi Helmut,

Thanks for keeping us updated with your reply. Since you have updated your PC to the latest Windows build, if you're having trouble

updating the Elite controller using the Xbox Accessories app, then there may be an issue with the app itself if it isn't allowing you to update the controller. You may wish to run the App troubleshooter to see if there may be something with the app itself
that requires a "fix". Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

In regard to configuring your Elite controller, you would need the Xbox Accessories app for that as well: Use the Xbox
Accessories app to configure your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller

If you continue to experience issues updating or configuring your Elite controller using your Windows 10 PC, then you may need to attempt to do so from a different PC or an Xbox One console.

I hope that this helps a bit more and please let us know the results.

The Xbox accessories app is now updated and the Bluetooth works on the Elite Controller 2. I suggest updating everything, the app and plug in the controller to update it. Hope this helps.
