    Xbox Accessories App crashed while installing firmware update


    Hello,

    The Xbox Accessories app crashed in the middle of updating my controller's firmware over USB, and the controller is now unusable. Windows no longer recognizes it, and after I restarted the app, it just said, "Connect a controller to get started", so I can't
    use it to play games with the original firmware or attempt the upgrade again. I've tried restarting the app, restarting Windows, unplugging and using the same/different USB port, and removing and reinstalling the batteries after several minutes, all to no
    avail.

    How do I reset the controller's firmware?

    Same here. Apparently there is supposed to be an "Xbox Accessories" app that installs automatically with the drivers, to allow firmware updates, which might resolve these issues. But the app isn't installing, and I can't find it in the app store.

    Xbox One controller firmware update, on PC

    The Xbox Accessories app is the right place for this. In an upcoming update for the app, firmware update support will be included for all controllers within the app.

    Xbox Accessories on PC bricked my Xbox One controller and I don't have a access to a Xbox One console

    I just had exactly the same issue

    I finally installed Windows 10 and knew that this was a prerequisite for updating the xbox one controller firmware. Installed the "xbox Accessories" app and attempted to update the firmware.

    The update stalled at 0% and waited 10 minutes and hit the back arrow. The xbox accessories app no longer sees my controller...... seems that the app bricked it.

    Like the original poster I do not own an xbox one console

    Any solutions to this problem?

    I see. Please also check if the controller has a pending firmware update that needs to be installed.

    Open the Xbox Accessories app. You should see an option "Update required" if an update is needed to be installed.

    what you are suggesting is completely useless
    Especially considering I was having the problem since before I installed the Xbox Accessories App - I only installed the app because I had read that I might need to update firmware for the controller. And the app said I had the updated firmware.
