Xbox A button Not Working with Any Controllers

Xbox controllers were working just fine, until one day the A button would not work. Thinking it was just that controller, I tried the other one and it did the same thing. It would go back and forth for a couple weeks of which one would work.

Then neither of them would work.

I purchased 2 brand new, wired controllers, Xbox will still not respond to A button on any controller.

    :)

Xbox A button Not Working with Any Controllers

    Hi Tyler,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you are having issue with controller. We recommend checking the button mapping. If A was changed then this would be why it isn't working.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Buttons don't work on any controller

Hello, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

If none of the buttons on your Xbox controller work except the home button, preventing you from logging in or performing any actions on your Xbox, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Make sure your Xbox controller batteries have enough charge. If they are running low, replace them with new batteries or charge the controller if it is rechargeable.

    2. If possible, try using a different Xbox controller with your console. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the controller or a more general issue with the console.

    3. To perform a hard reset on your Xbox console, press and hold the power button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it turns off. Unplug the power cord from the console and wait a few minutes. Then plug the power cord back in, turn on the console, and try connecting the controller again.

    4. Connect your Xbox controller to your console using a USB cable and check for available firmware updates. To update controller firmware, go to Xbox settings, select Devices & Connections, then Accessories, and choose the controller you want to update. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

    5. To determine if the issue is specific to your console or the controller itself, try connecting the controller to a different Xbox console or PC. If the buttons still don't work on another device, the controller is likely faulty and needs to be replaced

If the problem persists then I am afraid that you will have to request a repair of the equipment because it is very likely due to some hardware problem, for this I will leave you the following link: support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/getting-your-product-serviced

    Odd MP error..?

it's a day of odd glitches. I was in a match today, and all the combat releated buttons on my controller stopped working. I could move, I could run with the A button, I could pull up the XBox Guide, or the menu with the Start Button. But none of the other
buttons worked, I could not use any offense of any kind at all. Tried hiding and turning my controller off/on, grabbed a different controller.. nothing. I had to leave the match which I hate doing. Next match started, worked fine from there.
