xbox 360smart glass not working with my 8.1 machines HELP

Xbox 360 smartglass won't work on any of my 8.1 PC's. I'm fully updated on all my machine and my about but it wont work. I've checked and double checked and my account is correct on both myX box and my computers. . . Anyone care to help?

Can't login to Xbox Live from Solitaire Collection

Windows 8.1 machines working again since yesterday evening, my Windows 10 laptop still has the same issue.

 

having the same issue. I have searched the forums and used google to try to search for a solution to no avail. my 360 is already set to allow smartglass app connection. I have reinstalled xbox 360 smartglass on my windows 8.1 machine (lenovo lynx K3 tablet).
the xbox 360 smartglass app on my android device (galaxy s3) can connect just fine. (had a similar issue with the xbox one smartglass app on my tablet, but found that to be a software firewall (comodo) issue. with the 360 smartglass app, I have tried disabling
the firewall and I still get a message the app cannot find the console). when I check the properties of the app in the task manager, it points to a folder of where it was installed, and not an executable. not sure if this is what is causing the issue. both
the 360 and the tablet (I have even been prompted by the app to re-sign in and I used the same account information)are signed in under the same account and are on the same wireless network. and again, I can sign into the xbox one smartglass app just fine after
I resolved the firewall issue (to allow the application associated with the app to be allowed connection). I have also reset my router (as I found other suggestions in other posts advise to do. I feel as I have exhausted every conceivable possibility, and
yet, still does not work. HELP!!!!

 

I have the same issue.

Xbox 360 connected to router via cable.

Lenovo laptop running 8.1 connected to router via wireless.

Lumia Icon (Windows phone) connected to router via wireless.

All correctly using the same Microsoft account.

The phone can connect to the 360 just fine, the laptop's smartglass app cannot locate the 360. I have no idea why. The 360 network configuration is set to automatic. How am I supposed to get my PC app version of smart glass to connect to the 360?

 

Same problem here. My Windows phone (Lumia 928 on Verizon) will use xbox 360 smartglass just fine. My Lenovo laptop, which has been updated to Windows 81, will no longer connect. It used to, so I know it's not a setup problem. I would really like this
fixed since I was enjoying smartglass quite a bit with my games that use it. I looked through all the settings in the app on my laptop and couldn't find anything that's causing the problem that I can fix. Please tell us what to do to fix this!

Ok, when you start up your Xbox Smart Glass, do you get any error codes or messages, if so, please detail them so I can try and help further.

I would also recommend seeing if you have enabled the Xbox 360 Smart Glass to be able to connect its self to your Xbox 360. You should be able to do this in System settings under devices.

The only error I get is "Can't find your console" and I get a "Try Again" button underneath a bunch of instructions I've already done. There is no error code. Under Settings the Xbox 360 shows up as a device.

I have two Xboxes (an older white model and a shiny black one with a Kinect) and I've tried with both.

My Windows phone is still working just fine with box Xboxes.

 

All I get is cannot find console. No error message/code. Xbox already has smartglass on.

same issue here. works fine on galaxy s4, but no joy on my new dell venue 11 pro running 8.1

 

I just realized I also cannot connect to guest networks (such as at a hospital, university, or coffee shop). The agreement web page never comes up. Any chance these are related problems with 8.1?

Also, my machine is domain joined. I don't have a setting under networks to detect other devices because of this. Is there a server setting I can change? My laptop isn't a work device, so I can change whatever settings I want on it and our server.

Is anyone else who is having this problem running a domain joined machine?

 

Mine was on a home group, but I removed it from the home group thinking that was part of the issue, still no joy. I have been able to use my android without any issue. My windows 8.1 tablet can connect to any other device on my network as it should. You
would think that a windows device wouldn't have any issue connecting to a Microsoft xbox but I guess that is what I get for thinking.

 

Still wondering if anyone is looking at this or if there are any new ideas. Would love to get SmartGlass working again.

 

Alrighty, I found a solution that's working for me. Try this:

1. Go to "Network and Sharing Center" (you can search for this with the charm on the right-hand side of your screen, which will bring up the desktop).

2. Choose "Change advanced sharing settings."

3. Under each of the types of networks, set "Turn on network discovery."

In my domain I've also got "Turn on file and printer sharing," but I'm not sure if that's also part of it. My machine is domain-joined, so that may or may not be related.

Someone more familiar with the differences between Windows 8 and 8.1 will have to say whether these are new settings that defaulted to something safe or if they got changed during the upgrade. I don't know, but it works. I'm going to find out if this fixes
my other network issues as well, but at least SmartGlass can now connect to my Xboxes.
