Xbox 360s wont load discs

This problem happened to me in the past so I just installed all of my games to make it easier, I stopped doing that because lately I didn't need to, now my 360 s wont even load discs again and I have no idea what to do about it. Right now I have it sitting
unplugged from the power to see if that magically changes anything, but I doubt it. Anyways I was able to play a game just last night, perfectly fine with no problems whatsoever. Today, I try to load a game and it gives me the "reading disc" and then the open
tray option.

I tried another game, and even a movie and the same thing occurred. Is there a fix I can do to it myself? I cleared system cache and that didn't help. My console isn't under warranty anymore either, so if I have to I'll have to send it in for $80 repair.
Maybe Microsoft can actually make a console that can last, this is just pathetic. Sorry, had to get a rant in here somehow. This will be my 6th console repair, first one for my Xbox 360s (no excuses, it shouldn't happen)

I just want to know if there is a fix I can do myself that would actually get the console to read discs again.

same problem here. 360S console. worked fine up until I did the update this morning. some discs work, some don't. makes funny noises when reading discs that wont load.

In my experience though, the console will read less and less discs until it reads none at all and it will need to be repaired. Someone else around here might have another fix, but not many people will be able to give any advice if your seeking a fix that
may involve opening the console up.

I really do sympathize with you though, a friend has been through 6 too and recently got the disc read error and has now given up on buying 360's which sucks because he was my NG3 coop buddy. Anyway, I hope something works out for you!

 

Yeah I'm debating on whether or not to just get a cheap used 360 and keep the one with the messed up disc drive as a media streamer or just send it in for repair. I hate having to send it for repair, but I suppose it's all I can really do at the moment.
And I just got a slew of games too that I have added to my backlog to play.
