xbox 360S turns off any time an HDMI cable is connected

I've had my xbox360s for about a year now, and I use this one mainly as a windows media center. It has a LAN connection. It's connected via hdmi to a receiver, and the receiver is connected via hdmi to the TV (Samsung). Just today the console shut off
on its own. When I turn it on, it goes green for about 2 seconds then automatically turns off. I know it's not a power supply issue because if I disconnect the hdmi cables, the console turns on and stays on (it also has a green light when it's on....no red
lights). I swapped out hdmi cables, I tried plugging directly into the TV, I used different ports (both TV and receiver), but same thing happens. I turned off the CEC control on my tv, too...it didn't help. Any time the hdmi cable is plugged into any device
(even if the other device is off), the console will shut off. I unplugged everything except the power supply, I turn on the console, and it will stay on and run fine UNTIL I plug in an hdmi cable (connected to any device), then it shuts off after a couple
of seconds. Any help is much appreciated!

    :)

Connect your Xbox 360 Console to an HDTV or monitor using HDMI Cable

If your Xbox 360 console has an HDMI port, you can easily connect an HDTV or high-definition monitor to your console using the HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cable.

    Here is how:

    • First, you need to connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port.
    • You have to connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI input on your HDTV or monitor.
    • After connecting the cable properly, turn on your TV and console.
If the Xbox Dashboard doesn’t appear, you might need to change the video input setting.

The console automatically uses the default display settings. But you can also change the settings on the console to improve the video display.

Note: All Original Xbox consoles do not have an HDMI port.

Xbox 360 Slim - HDMI video & Component video.. can it work?

    Hi there,

Currently have a 24" monitor (Asus K242HL) and my xbox 360 slim.

The monitor does not have any sound output, so the typical hdmi connection to my xbox only provides clear video...

After searching it up and finding numerous threats about connecting both a hdmi and component cable, i went along with it..

    Scenario:

When the hdmi is connected as normal, video works. As soon as i plug the component cable in also, to output sound onto my speaker, the monitor loses signal and the xbox just starts an iterative loop of restarting.

So im unable to achieve sound & have video .. with the component cable connected to the xbox and no hdmi, the sound output does infact work on my speaker.

How am i able to have the two cables function side by side, are there any settings i have to tweak within the xbox 360 to get this to function?

  4. xbox 360S turns off any time an HDMI cable is connected

I've had my 360 for over ten years. The main issue that shuts down a system is the power supply. You say its not a power issue, but that is exactly what you're encountering. If a power supply is degraded, the 5v an 12v peripherals can interfere with
eachother for load. If the HDMI is adding a load, that the Power Supply (PS) cannot handle, it will detect a fault and shutdown. Mine is simply shutting down the NIC when I ad HDMI for it to display and boot up.

    FarCry5 Won't Load

Hi there. My name is Ron, I'm an independent advisor. I will be more than happy to help you.

Please try the following steps one at a time to resolve the issue:

Confirm that both your TV and Xbox One console are turned on.

Check that your TV is set to the correct input signal (HDMI).

Check that the HDMI cable connections to your console and to your TV are secure.

Check that the HDMI cable is connected to the "out to TV" port on the console.

Try plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV.

Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV.

Try connecting your console to a different TV.

Power cycle your Xbox One: Press and hold the Xbox button  for 10 seconds to turn off the console, and then turn it on again.

    Xbox One - FAQ

How many HDMI devices can we connect at a time? Like, will I be able to run my Xbox 360 and my TV Cable Box through the console without having to swap out HDMI cords each time? What about if I used some kind of HDMI Splitter Hub and plug THAT into
    the Xbox One?

Carrying off that idea, would there actually be a benefit to connecting the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One? Would it allow you to seamlessly switch from Xbox 360 to Xbox One with a simple command, or would it just be exactly the same as the 360 runs now, but you'd
    have two devices turned on?

    Xbox 360 Off Downloading Question

The Xbox 360 HDMI Cable just connects the Xbox 360 console to your TV set and if you take it off it will not impede the download.

On the other hand your 360 will need to be on to enable the download to start and you can then turn it off and continue the download providing you have Background Downloads enabled.
