The TV being turned off is not the cause of the controller not connecting.

With your tv turned off, with no power on the HD lead, the console will not start up, you will not get the xbox loading splash screen.

The connect controller option comes after the loading screen, it won`t connect because it can`t get to that point.

You may as well say why can`t play games without my TV turned on.

Actually it is you that is not listening to the replies,you seem to think you have found some major problem, you haven`t.

You want a simple answer to your question?,You are simply not connecting your console correctly, how do you expect it to work right???

Here is some "literature" to make my point.

Read the section "connecting with HD leads", make a note of point 3 where it states after connecting the leads TURN ON YOUR TV.

 

I appreciate your comment. The link you have sent is speciffically regaridng connections. Turning on the tv is to see a picture. Ok.

But, Your rationale, will now cast doubt, as to why Paraffin Alien's controller actually works, contrary to your commetns above. Which is my point. And Why if my tv is in standby mode, does my controller will also connect, which is also contradictory to
your comment. This is the answer I am looking for.

I have never asserted to finding some major problem with microsoft hardware/software, on the contrary, there is an inconsistent behaviour, which I am trying to find a solution to.

 

With your TV on standby it retains power, you see that little red light on the front???

The link is for setting up your console, you are choosing to skip once of those steps altogether.

You might as well be asking why the console has no power if you don`t plug it in?

Paraffin may not have a slim console, or an older or later model than yours.

You are not going to find a solution to a problem that isn`t a problem.

You are creating the problem by not setting up your console correctly.

 

All instructions always state to turn on the TV first. But I think I`m going to throw a spanner in the works, lol

My TV is off, my console is off, my wireless controller is off.

So, I turn on my wireless controller first, which automatically turns on the console. Therefore the controller has connected to the turned off console in order to turn it on, lol

I have never said it is a problem. It is odd behaviour and there is no text on this scenario. Set up instrucions you refer to are purely to conect console to tv. If you go a bit further, you will there is aslo a section on pairing a conltroller, which, knowhere
does it state, the tv must be swithched on. Nor does it say anywhere that you must also refer to basic set up instructions before paring your controller.

But interestingly the only item you are requested to turn on, is the console, There is no mention of the tv. Until towards the end, there is an assumption that the tv is on. But as has already been emphasised in other posts, the instrucions must be followed
to the letter. Therefore if ''Theowenkiller'' your assertions are correct then paring by following the instruction detailed below, would make paring a controller impossible, as the tv will not be on.

It would appear that some people will only do as stated and no more or less. Which is very commendable. But, surely when something acts differently they are a bit be curious. Just a bit?

Thanks for the spanner by the way, mine does same. This thread is is going nowhere and to question is just not the done thing. The age of discovery is obviously dead. lol

 

If you can tell me any reason or need to connect your controller without the system being set up correctly first, i am all ears.

I would love to hear from anyone that uses their console without a TV.

There is also a difference between syncing a controller and connecting a controller.

This thread hasn`t been going anywhere for days, you seem to be unable to grasp the simple concept that if you don`t set up your console correctly you will get problems.

 

Your Xbox 360 is fine mine also does it if the tv is on standby. As soon as my tv is on the controller connects to the console.

 

I use my xbox without the tv on all the time. I also use my computer without a monitor, in fact I'm typing this reply right now without one. The secret is that you need psychic powers that allow you to 'see' what would be on the screen in your head. Saves
a lot of money on needing to buy monitors/tvs and also on the power to run them. I also never use lights, unless I have company, since I can just Daredevil my way around the house in the dark.
