Xbox 360s and a "slipped disc".

    • Subject

Not being TECHY or gamey I have a problem with my daughters Xbox 360s and a "slipped disc". The console was stood in the vertical position for 10 months with no problems then suddenly when ejecting a disc one day we found we couldn't as the disc had slipped
inside the machine and wouldn't allow the tray to eject. After manually opening the tray and managing to manipulate it back into the tray we managed to retrieve a badly scratched and now unplayable game disc.
we have now turned the console to the horizontal position...will this cause any problems with overheating? I am desperately trying to purchase a replacement game (Disney Infinity1.0)that is proving to be very difficult!
i know realise we should have downloaded the game to the HDD, but that is a lesson we have learnt...

    :)

Poweron and disc tray "pings" on 360S

My 360 has recently lost the pinging sound heard when I turn on and off the console, and when I open and close the disc tray. Is there any way I can get them back, as it helps me identify when I've managed to actually touch the disc tray button sometimes.

Horizontal is always best in my opinion and it will not cause over heating problems.

As long as you keep plenty of space around it and do not put things on top of it, you will be fine.

Installing all games is always the best thing to do, you can always delete them later to free up space.

Game stores often have disc cleaning machines that can fix damaged discs at a fraction of the cost of a new game.

  5. The "open tray error" can be fixed for a price. At this point, a new console maybe about the same price unless you go next gen

  7. Hey Owen,

I was thinking about this the other day. Blu Rays for my PS3 rarely have scratches and buying pre-owned feels safer. The 360 discs however are made from rice paper and snot, and more often that not get scratched very easily.

Do GAME provide a disc cleaning service?

Most of them do, but you need to ask at the counter.

Some game/dvd rental stores have them too.
