XBOX 360 won't update

On Saturday, my Xbox 360 started updating. Halfway through, it said there was an error with the update and the unit restarted. Now, everytime I turn it on, it says it needs an update giving me the option of yes or no to install the update. If I say yes,
the download screen comes on for 1 second and then the unit reboots. If I say no, it says there is something missing or corrupt and must be updated. It only gives me the option of "restart now". Maually updating with a disk or usb drive does nothing. I chatted
with online support about this and they told me that a lot of people had this problem with the update and to try later. I still had the problem a couple of days later, so I called support. They told me that the only option was to pay for it to get repaired.
When I told them that it was the update that caused the problem and that I shouldn't have to pay, they said there was nothing I could do even though they admitted that the update caused many people's xboxs to crash. Is there anything I can do to fix this because
support are absolutely useless and they won't repair/replace it even though it was the forced update that caused the problem.

Nope, but I'd prefer not to as all it says is to go to xbox.com... I'll try soon I guess, however I find this somewhat easier..

 

Are you able to start your XBOX offline (unplug ethernet cable/turn off wireless) and get to the dashboard? If so maybe try rolling back your updates and re-installing them.

1.Press the Guide button on your controller.

2.Go to Settings and select System Settings, select Storage.

3.Enter the following button sequence: LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X.

4.Select the option to roll back all system updates that are installed. The console will restart automatically and then download the updates again.

 

I can't do any of that because it only gives me the update screen when I turn it on. Can't get past it. I wonder what other people that had this problem are doing. Support said there was a lot. Who can I contact about this? Support we're useless.

 

Remove your HDDs and USB devices and only have your update disc in the console. If you still can't get anything, then call support and ask to speak to a manager to elevate the issue. I had an Xbox update brick my phat console a couple years back (rendered
my DVD drive useless), and they fixed it out of warranty for no charge. If they still refuse to fix it, or if you have a launch phat console, we can't help you...here. I'm sure Google will have other ideas.

 

Thanks for the reply. This doesn't work, and i called support and they wouldn't do anything, so I asked for a manager. Completely useless. She said that I had to pay to get it repaired even if it was the update that caused it. It was their policy. She said
that all the people that the update affected would have to pay. All she did was try to get off the phone. She said she would send me an email with some more steps to try. I asked her her phone number or a way to get in touch with her after I tried the steps,
and she said that they do not have direct lines to be reached but to be sure that I replied to her email and that she would get back to me. 2 days later, no reply at all. Who can I contact next? I know it was the update that caused problem. The first support
agent even told me that many people had the same problem due to the update. Completely unacceptable. There has to be someone higher up than a call centre manager.
