XBOX 360 WON'T UPDATE DUE TO ERROR CODE 43C5-4451-1380-267F-C000-0185

Or I have an xbox e. It a little over 1 year old. It just makes me mad. My son loves his xbox and it just makes me so angry that the system is so delicate.

 

I have tried everything and been on phone support with 4 different techs for over 5 hours. I am told my unit has gone bad. There is nothing wrong with the update. I told them I have seen hundreds of posts on this issue in the past 3 days. Tech support told
me they have not had any complaints or calls about this. I told them to check these forums because there are people on here with the problem and I doubt everyone's units went bad at the same time while doing the update.

 

They just reply the same thing all the time, console gone bad, so xbox broke ur consoles with the last update, my console worked great before update, i even played like 10 hours of crysis 3 mp the day before update, even people with new xbox 360 models are
having problems

 

For those who are having trouble with processing the latest system update, check under Storage and if you have the console version with the internal flash memory (4 GB), make sure this unit doesn't show up as "Unformatted".

 

So what do we do if we have this issue and the 4gb shows as unformatted?

 

Like STG said, they just reply with the same robotic questions/Troubleshoot links even though thousands worldwide are experiencing this same issue. All they can say is they "know of no current issues on THEIR end" making it sound like it's OUR fault, when
not even 10 hours before this buggy Update, I was online and playing a game for hours just fine. I go on it the next morning and wham, nothing has been working for me on XLive for nearly a week - very frustrating. I have an X360 E and it's not quite 2 years
old... all it does is sit there on my stand, never getting yanked out/moved/spilled on, etc. so it baffles me how it could be MY/OUR fault for faulty hardware?

 

Also, as Gideon asked... what do we do if that internal 4GB harddrive on our consoles says Unformatted? Mine became corrupt mysteriously 3 weeks back and I've been using USB as backup... it ran very smoothly runnin' on the USB with XLive/App use, etc. until
that Update was rolled out last weekend.

Taidara, what are we supposed to do... assuming you know more on the issue?

 

my old xbox 360 does not have internal storage, what i should do then? i dont see a reason why i should send my xbox 360 for repairs and even pay after an update if less than a day before worked perfectly fine

 

Splinter - are you able to reformat the internal drive? If not then the console should be sent in for repairs.

STG - Sorry to hear you're having issues with that error code. What size hard drive do you own? Where did you purchase it? Have you considered that the issue may be with the drive itself? If all else fails for you I'm afraid that you do not have an option
to send it in for repair. The fact that you do not have internal storage suggests that you have the older FAT console which is no longer supported for service due to it's age.

Hi guys, any news? I'm italian but I have the same problem..no way tu do last update because of this code error and my Xbox is 4GB showing unformatted.. with 16GB USB was working well up today for the new update.. no solution?

Just adding my voice, I am also having problems with this update and getting the -0185 error. When I start up the console, I get the prompt to update my system, which it's then unable to do. When I test my network connection, my Xbox 360 (slim model) can
connect to my router and then to the internet just fine; when it tries to connect to Live, the prompt to update comes up again. If I try to update, of course it doesn't work; if I cancel out of it, it says the connection to Live has failed.

I've been trying to sign on for the last couple of days. I've tried resetting my router, unplugging and replugging in the Xbox itself, yadda yadda... still the same error.

I've had issues with Xbox before like this, where I suddenly can't connect to Live, or access my profile, or such, and Support is absolutely no help. They give the same old canned answers, claiming it must be a problem with my Xbox, when forums are filled
with people complaining about the same problem. Usually after a few days the problem magically fixes itself for everyone. How strangely fortunate for all of us with "broken" Xboxes... Well, I'm just hoping the same quiet miracle happens again this time, because
Microsoft certainly isn't going to come forward and admit the problem's on their end.
