Xbox 360 won't stay connected to live

Since you're experiencing this issue on two different games with two different game developers then this means that it can be an issue with your Xbox 360 console itself or your connectivity. If your console is an Xbox 360 Original, Slim or E, and connected
to a wireless network then there's a chance that you're having an issue with interferences.

In case you've been connected as this with no change at all and you just experienced this issue today, a week or a month ago then there's a chance that you have changed your router before. For this, you will need to contact your Internet Provider then ask
them to open the 4 ports for your Xbox 360 console for it to obtain and maintain a stable connection to Xbox Live:

•Port 88 (UDP)

•Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

•Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

•Port 80 (TCP)

Not only Xbox but also third party game developers such as Activision and Bungie recommend that these ports are to be opened.

In case you're still experiencing these issues after doing these steps, try to perform a wired connection.

 

These days one rarely ever needs to contact their ISP to open ports. One can do that from within their router/modem settings configuration.

 

FYI:

I'm still having the random disconnect issue with the Xbox live. While trying to update World of Tanks it disconnected a min of 6 times before I was actually able to finish downloading the update. Come on Microsoft I know this is on your end given it was
not giving me problems prior to going on my vacation (Dec 25th). My line has also been confirmed working fine by the Comcast technician.

 

udidwht, may I ask, since you mentioned that your ISP has confirmed working great, have you tried to use a wired connection?

 

Update:

I have no clue what fixed it. But it appears the disconnect issue has ceased...nearly a full day and no disconnects. I also was able to finish the audio calibration of the kinect. By the way I was running wired.

I do notice however that the wireless connection speed showing within the Xbox shows 11 Mbps which is odd. Odd given my router DPC 3941B (b,g, n and ac) is in (g and n) mode only. Switched over to wireless during my attempts to resolve the disconnect issue
(back on wire).

 

That's great to hear then udidwht. I had the same issue before with a previous customer and asked him to contact his ISP as there's a possibility that an update was from their end was happening. At first the ISP did not tell that to my previous customer
then as we ended up with email follow-up, his ISP admitted that they did have a system update on their end.

 

still having this issue. cannot connect. microsoft does not help but keeps taking my money for a service i still can't use.

 

I recently started having issues with my 360 logging me out after a few minutes (no matter which application am using it can be Netflix or YouTube or any game) at first I thought it was my consoles WiFi receiver, but when I played a 360 game on my Xbox one
console it kicked me off Xbox liv once again, this is becoming extremely annoying....has anyone found out a fix?

 

Disconnect your Xbox from wi-fi completely then disconnect power from wifi modem wait 1-2 min. then re-power. Once it's back up reconnect Xbox. Prior to disconnecting Xbox restore it's network settings to default.
