XBox 360 won't connect to network now

When trying to figure out why I wasn't connected to XBox Live through wired connection to my laptop--something it had no problems with before--I did a test of the connection, and it seems it's not receiving an IP address from the router (despite whatismyipaddress.com
having no problems divining mine out--or at least, my computer's IP--and resetting to factory settings generated one for the XBox just fine). While diagnosing the main wireless network on the laptop side, it mentioned that the computer was correctly configured,
but "the device or resource (DNS server) isn't responding". I'll admit that since there's a separate Ethernet entry in the Network Connections window (that ISN'T registering any problems), I'm not sure if it's referring to the wireless router or the XBox.
Although, given that I'm able to send this message, I'm kind of expecting the latter. That the network worked fine before also means that by all rights, the router should be able to accept the XBox's IP and MAC.

When checking the DNS settings in System Settings, I notice that both the primary and secondary are 0.0.0.0. I have a hunch this might be part of the problem, but what I don't know is if this is likely to be the entire problem. And if they're not supposed to
be that, how they got zeroed to begin with.

NOTE: The router is a combination modem/router supplied as part of Comcast's XFinity service. So not something you'd find in a store.

wireless help

I bought a black 360 today and it won't connect to the wireless network I've been using on my previous 360. It says my xbox can't connect to the wireless network.

 

Is my x-box broken? Help?

I have a x-box 360 slim, I play all the time and it works fine. I bought x-box live recently but my xbox could not detect any wireless networks. The wireless network section said no networks or what ever. My friend told me my wireless finder must be broken.
So i got a xbox 360 wireless adapter. Now my xbox finds the internet, my internet is the first one. I select it and my xbox won't connect to live I've tried a hundred times and it won't connect. Is my xbox's ability to connect to xbox live broken.

I've read through your situation and if I understand your situation correctly, you connect your console to your computer and use its Internet Connection (ICS, or bridge Connection). If this is correct, can also tell us if you are using ICS (Internet Connection
Sharing), or bridge connection.

Can you also include any troubleshooting steps you have tried so far, so we don't post up solutions that you have already tried.

Actually, it turned out it was a "smart" firewall on my laptop's end that was barricading the signal. (I figured it out when deactivating it let me play Puzzle Pirates again.)

Now I just have to figure out why it began auto-downloading Modern Warfare 2...I never purchased it--there's definitely no record of it on my credit card account--and it's not my kind of genre. It's not some kind of freebie for Gold members, is it? (Like
Sheol would the publisher make it free...>>; )
