    gamer tag randomly changed. I cannot change it back.

    Yesterday myself and my friend were playing co-op on COD Ghosts. He signed in and we played and everything was fine. Today I get on my xbox one and my xbox one recognizes me and everything. but now the gamer tag associated with my account is not my gamer
    tag. I attempted to change it back to the original gamer tag. the xbox one will not allow me to change my new gamer tag to the original.

    Hi there,

    could you also try changing your gamertag via the alternative steps on this link: How to Change Your Xbox Gamertag

    Make sure you have logged on xbox.com with the same account that is showing on the 360 in case you are attempting to change it via xbox.com

    If that all fails then please specify the error code you are receiving, it might help to determine a possible cause and or steps to try

    I had my gamer tag running for 2 years and it hasnt been changed until today. i find this unfair as it never warned me and feel i should be allowed a gamer tag reset

    Merging Xbox Gamertags

    So in that case, would logging into xbox one with a 360 gamer tag allow a user to get all the backward compatible games, and then playing them with a xbox one gamer tag?

    I have spoken with a few people in chat that are asking that question..

    They had created a new gamer tag for xbox one, probably not realising that they could play both consoles with the same tag..

    I know that Microsoft probably won't venture down the merge path, but it might be a nice option for some people..

    It's either taken by somebody or the Xbox system won't allow you to go back to a previous gamer tag.

    Yeah hi, yes it was my one and only free gamer tag change, it has worked for my Microsoft xbox.com account and on my Xbox 360 so can't understand what a free gamer tag change is good for if it hasn't truely changed?
