    Hi, a month ago i experienced a error, i was playing with my xbox 360 gamepad connected to my laptop since i dont use my xbox anymore, i was playing and it disconnected, when i reconnected my receiver, it shut down my pc, maybe over voltage, i opened it and soldered new cable to it, but still the same happened, so i soldered again the original cable but still the problem, i tried on 2 other laptops and still the same problem. Any idea how to make it work without shutting down my pc? i think it can damage the pc if i connect it again.

    For wireless Xbox 360 controllers, you cannot use the charging cable to connect to a PC (it only transfers power, not data). To use the controller with a PC, you will either need an "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" (non-detachable cable) or use your existing
    wireless controller with the wireless gaming receiver for Windows.

    That particular receiver is for use with Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mice. I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to connect an Xbox 360 Wireless controller with it. In order to connect a wireless controller you would need to purchase the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver
    for PC.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately unlike the Xbox One controllers, the wireless Xbox 360 controllers remain wireless regardless of whether you connect them to a PC with a Play and Charge. You can't make an Xbox 360 wireless controller a wired controller.

    If you want to use your 360 wireless controller on a PC you'll need to buy an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.
