    Xbox 360 Wireless controller not working with PC


    So I've had this controller for years now, just yesterday it mysteriously stopped working with no changes on my end. I've used it in Win 7, 8.1, and Ubuntu 14.10. It now does not work in Ubuntu or Windows, leading me to believe this is not a driver problem.
    The symptoms are constant green ring flashing, and the light on my wireless adapter is off (leading me to believe it is having trouble connecting or staying connected).

    Things I have tried:

    Unplugging the USB, replugging it in (to multiple different places)

    Reinstalling drivers (manually and automatically, both in Ubuntu and Windows)

    Resyncing (button on the controller and adapter)

    Plugging it in with the play and charge kit

    Using different batteries

    Has anyone encountered this before? Any advice?

    Xbox ONE controller with Xbox 360

    If I own an Xbox 360E and an Xbox ONE wireless controller with a wireless pc adapter can I connect the Xbox ONE controller to the Xbox 360 through the pc adapter?

    Is the controller a wireless controller or wired? If it is wireless, how are you connecting it? If by using the play & charge kit, then the Xbox 360 controller will not work, as the cable is only recognized on PC for charging only. You need to use a Xbox
    360 Wireless adapter for PC to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your PC.

    Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, it looks like you're trying to get a Xbox 360 controller to work on your pc. How is this controller connecting to your PC? Is it a wired controller or wireless controller? If it's a wireless 360
    controller there is a wireless dongle that would be needed to have the controller work on PC. Please let us know.

    Hi,

    Unlike the Xbox One controller which can be both wireless and wired, the wireless 360 controller only operates via wireless. The connector for the USB - or the 'Play and charge' - cable only sends power, not controller input data. Also the wireless protocol
    it uses is proprietary, in other words, it's not Bluetooth.

    You can use an wireless 360 controller on a PC, but you'll need an Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver attached to your PC.

    The wireless 360 controllers do not work with Android, but the wired ones do.
