Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Battery Charging

I have a rather technical question to ask. I am working on a project for a class at Iowa State University (I'm studying Electrical Engineering). I need to know what pins from the USB charger need to be connected to which contacts on the battery to charge
the battery. I have dismantled the controller and am re-purposing it. I am using components from the controller (specifically the charger, rechargeable battery pack, motors, buttons and trigger mechanisms). My project is to create a modular device that attaches
to a pinball machine that can be placed over the flipper button on one side and have a button on the other to allow both flippers to be operated on one side for single arm amputees.

The 360. Will be getting the Xbox One S later this year but the 360 has been my only console for so many years and is still delivering. Now playing the free Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and am impressed how good it looks and plays for such a old game. Still prefer the 360 controller over the One controller but hopefully the new controller for the S model is better. Yeah. I'm honestly even more happy now that Microsoft is now finally replacing those power brick cords for the upcoming Xbox One S model with just a normal power cord(like the Playstation consoles). Now they just need to start changing up the wireless controller batteries and make a built-in battery of their own(coming with a charger for it). That'll make it much easier for Xbox One owner to not have to buy multiple AA batteries, especially since not even the USB cable could charge the wireless controllers good(I've tried charging my Xbox One controller many times before for a whole day and it's still gets the red low battery notification after the 1-day full charge).Click to expand... The S model has corrected many design flaws of the standard One model. I've always had issues with the lithium batteries for the 360 having short battery life so I've used Duracell batteries. Even the PS4 controller has terrible battery life with it's lithium battery. Probably due to the stupid light on the controller.

This behavior can occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:

. The battery has reached the charge limit.

. There may be an issue with the charge cable.

. There may be an issue with the battery.

Things to try:

1. Determine the part of the recharging system that may be causing the issue.

Controller

Try AA batteries or try a different Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack in the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller to verify that there is nothing wrong with the controller. If the controller works with different batteries, the controller is not causing the issue.

Charge cable

Try a different Xbox 360 Play and Charge cable to charge the battery. If the battery charges correctly with a different charge cable, the original charge cable is faulty.

Rechargeable battery

a. Use a cotton swab and some alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack and on the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller.

b. Try a different Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack with the charge cable. If the second battery charges correctly, the original battery is faulty.

Regarding your first question you should check your NAT settings and make sure they are open

There is no driver to download or update for Xbox 360 controllers on Windows 10. You just plug them in.

Note: Xbox 360 wireless controllers can not be turned into wired controllers. A 360 play and charge cable can only charge a battery or power the controller if no battery is present, it does not send data.

If you have a wired 360 controller just plug it in, no driver required
If your controller is wireless, you need an Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows.

Hi,

Wireless Xbox 360 controllers are always wireless. You can't make them wired with the Play and Charge adaptor. The Play and Charge only charges the battery or powers the controller if no battery is present, it doesn't send data, hence the reason for all the lights flashing and no connection.

The only way to use a Xbox 360 wireless controller on PC is to buy a Xbox 360 gaming receiver and it must be the '360 receiver' as the Xbox One version is not compatible with the old Xbox 360 controllers. With the receiver present you can sync the controller via wireless to the PC.

To use an Xbox 360 controller on its own on a PC, it must a wired controller. It does not matter if the USB port is 3.0, USB 2.0 devices will work on USB 3.0 ports.
The Xbox 360 Play and Charge can not send controller data back to the PC. It will only charge the battery, or power the controller if no battery is present. A play and charge for 360 controllers is a charger, nothing
more.

Xbox 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. To use a Xbox 360 wireless controller on a PC, you'll need an Xbox 360 gaming receiver.

Only the Wireless Xbox One controllers can be made wired with the correct Micro USB sync and charge type cable.
