Xbox 360 Wired controllers.

Just wanted to bring to the attention of support teams an issue I have discovered.

After attempting to purchase 4 different Xbox 360 wired controllers for use on my PC, each has had a defect of some kind.

3 out of 4 have had a very loud audible squeak when using the right analog stick. This noise is loud enough to be of concern. The final controller I attempted to purchase has had a defective D-Pad, where it takes an unusually large amount of force to allow
for the D-Pad (right direction only) to respond. I am unsure if this defect is within an entire batch of controllers, and if so how I can help to locate the particular shipment/ manufacturing line responsible.

If any assistance is required I am happy to help, as of right now I will continue to try to find a functioning Controller.

I am having the exact same issue. did anyone figure out how to get console toi recognize both controllers as player one and two?

I purchased 2 xbox 360 wired controllers and they both default to player 1. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

Were these controllers all purchased new? If so, where and when did you purchase them. Are they also official Microsoft Xbox 360 wired controllers? Just to mention as well that if you're using a Windows 10 PC, you can actually use an Xbox One controller
as well if you happen to have one handy. If you recently purchased the controllers, you'll want to check in with the retailer to see about any returns or exchanges. You might also want to contact out Chat or Phone teams to explore any warranty options.

To play on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller you need to get a wired controller. On Xbox 360 the "wire" is only used for charging on the wireless controller.

The simple answer is because a 360 wireless controller can't be turned into a wired controller. The wire can only charge, it can't send data. Only the Xbox One pad allows both wired and wireless.

For the 360 controller you'll need the Xbox 360 gaming receiver.

That's your problem, right there. Unfortunately, if you connect your wireless Xbox 360 controller with a charging cable, all your doing is charging the controller.

The 360 wireless controller can't be turned into a wired controller with the charging cable as neither the controller or the wire were designed to send data this way.

You either need 360 wired controller or an Xbox One controller. Xbox One controllers can use wired or wireless, but wireless is only supported via Windows 10.

That would be almost impossible for these few reasons:

1: The wireless format on the 360 and Xbox One are different (Xbox One uses blutooth 360 doesn't)

2: The 360 controller can be plugged in using a USB cable, but that just charges it, it doesn't send the data through the wire.

The only way that we could use 360 controllers on the Xbox One would be a hardware redesign or a system update which would only allow the wired 360 controller (not wireless 360 plugged in, I mean the purely wired 360 controller)
