    Hi, I was using my xbox 360 wired controller earlier today and then it suddenly stopped working.I decided to uninstall the drivers and plug the controller back in. I downloaded the xbox accessories and it still didn't work and I went into device manager
    and it said Code 12 I searched that up and it said I had to disable conflicting software but I couldn't find it anywhere so would anyone please mind telling me how to fix this problem.

    Xbox 360 Controller does not work on my PC ?

    I am guessing the controller is a wired controller as the Wireless controller with Wireless PC adapter comes with drivers on a DVD in the box which work with Windows 8 (I use them myself).

    As mentioned earlier by IceStorm III, a wireless controller with a Play and Charge kit won't work as that play and charge kit only carries power to charge/run a wireless controller with your Xbox 360.

    If it is indeed a wired Xbox 360 controller you are trying to use with Windows 8 you can use the Windows 7 drivers which you can download here:

    Will Xbox 360 slim controller work with Windows XP?

    The wired controllers work just fine. If you are purchasing a wireless controller, make sure it comes with the wireless adapter for your pc.

    Thanks for your reply however I have already tried all of this and something i forgot to mention is that the controller works fine in my friends laptop.

    So to understand the situation you are on Windows 7 and you cannot find the driver for the Xbox controller but a Logitech controller does work when wired, is that correct?

    If so, are you trying to use an Xbox 360 controller, and have you tried it wired as well?

    Here is an article on how to calibrate Xbox 360 controllers for Windows. You'll need to plug it into the PC using a USB cable:

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.
