    I bought a new xbox 360 wired controller for windows today and I'm having trouble getting it to work properly. I installed the Xbox 360 Accessories Status 1.2, restarted my computer and then plug in my 360 controller into the USB port. At first it failed
    to install the driver but plugging it back in allowed the drivers to install. Then I tested out on Ultra Street Fighter 4 and I was able to navigate through the menu but when I start playing, the controllers stops responding to my inputs but the top left light
    on the controller was still on.

    I followed this video to get the controller to work. After installing the latest driver and restart my computer, I tested out again and this time all four lights turned on but shortly turn off after going though the menu. I tried again but only one light
    turns on but turns off when testing the controller and not responding afterwards. My OS is Windows 7 64bit

    Wired 360 controller on Windows 7 PC

    I picked up a Wired (not wireless) Xbox 360 controller a couple months ago to use with Steam on my Windows 7 64-bit PC, and I have had a lot of trouble getting it to function. In fact, there was only one time when it worked properly, and then only for about
    20 minutes, after which it simply quit responding during gameplay. The correct green light remained on, but there was no feedback. I did not unplug or change change settings.

    I have tried many methods, including the ones outlined in the Xbox forums and on the official support pages. I've tried all USB ports on my PC (one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0). Usually the green lights all power on then switch off, and a message pops that the
    driver did not install correctly. Sometimes plugging it in also results in four flashing green lights. Sometimes the correct green light comes on, but the controller will not respond.

    If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. I loved using this controller for the 20 minutes that it worked that one time. Here are my specs:

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (SP1)

    Intel i7-3610QM

    8.00GB RAM

    GeForce GT 650M (1GB DDR5)

    the answer is it is a wireless controller they dont work with the usb charging cable ive tried it on windows 7 and 10 you need a proper wired controller apparently.
    That's true for 360 controllers, but not Xbox One. The Xbox One controllers work wired and via wireless on PC. My wiress controllers all work fine via the micro USB cable on my PC.

    Windows 7 doesn't come with drivers built in to the OS though, they may need need to be downloaded manually if Windows update isn't picking up the controller.

    So to understand the situation you are on Windows 7 and you cannot find the driver for the Xbox controller but a Logitech controller does work when wired, is that correct?

    If so, are you trying to use an Xbox 360 controller, and have you tried it wired as well?

    Yes my logitech wired works , but my xbox unwired doesn't . Is there a specific drivers for my xbox unwired that i should try ?

    I am guessing the controller is a wired controller as the Wireless controller with Wireless PC adapter comes with drivers on a DVD in the box which work with Windows 8 (I use them myself).

    As mentioned earlier by IceStorm III, a wireless controller with a Play and Charge kit won't work as that play and charge kit only carries power to charge/run a wireless controller with your Xbox 360.

    If it is indeed a wired Xbox 360 controller you are trying to use with Windows 8 you can use the Windows 7 drivers which you can download here:
