    Xbox 360 wired controller not connecting to Xbox 360


    My brother got an xbox 360 from his grandad. It worked but the controller has a circular cable and couldn't plug into the console so we had to order an adapter, once we got the adapter it worked for about 30 mins we started to play some of the games he was given when he got the xbox but then randomly the controller shut off, i didn't understand what happened so I told him to just wait a while and we'd try again later, but it's still not working. All it does is when the console is on and I try to plug it back in it flashes to opposite lights on the controller (top right and bottom left) when it's about half way in then if I push the cable in more it turns on the other two lights then switches them all off and doesn't connect to the conosole I don't know what to do or how to fix I've searched online but all I get is things for wireless controllers not wired ones and for anyone who may ask it has no battery pack it is connected to the cable itself not just plugged into a pack on the controller. Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Hi, are you connecting a wireless xbox 360 controller or a wired 360 controller, and are they official controllers?

    Are you sure the Xbox 360 is a wired Xbox 360 controller, and not connected by a separate cable like the play and charge cable? If it is the play and charge cable, it will not work on Windows 10, as it only charges the batteries on a PC. If it is a actual
    wired controller, then Windows 10 should detect and then download the drivers if needed.
