  1. Xbox 360 wired controller compatibility

Why is it that I can use an Xbox 360 controller plugged into my PC to play my Xbox One but I can not directly plug my Xbox 360 wired controller into my Xbox one and play with it?

there are no new buttons or anything and it works on PC so why would you do this? to force us to buy new controllers for the console?

    :)

  4. Xbox 360 wired controller compatibility

The Xbox one controller uses a different hardware and software setup than with the 360. The drivers in the controller are incompatible with the xbox one with the 360 controller. The circuit board is completely different, and the software inside the controller
    also is different.

On a computer, there are 2 separate drivers for the 2 separate controllers. You can't run a 360 controller if you have a xbox one driver in the computer.

    X-Box One controllers

Regardless of being wired or not, a Xbox One controller will not connect to a Xbox 360. The only way to play a xbox 360 game with a xbox one controller is if the game supports backwards compatibility, which must be played on the Xbox one.

Xbox - controler compatibilty with PC

    Hey Screamhurt,

That controller looks to be a console controller, so it won't be compatible with your PC.

    I would recommend using a
    Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
    .

I want to know why it is not possible to be able to use an Xbox 360 controller to play Xbox 360 games on an Xbox one S.

i already know they are not compatible. that is why i said what i said. i know there are workarounds. like using a wired controller on a windows 10 computer... blah blah... too much work just to play a 360 game on an xbox one, and it can be laggy that way too. also i dont have a wired controller. i have the wireless controller with the charging cord. why be able to play 360 games if you cant even use a 360 controller? "backwards compatible but only under our rules"...

    Odd controller issues.

I know Microsoft was selling wired 360 controllers aimed at the PC, so im wondering if perhaps those controllers were in some way not compatible with the similar 360 versions.
