    XBox 360 will not play DVDs that computer plays with no problem


    I own all 9 seasons of the Office. My computer's DVD player will handle all of them fine, but my XBox 360 will play some, but not all, and with no apparent trend.

    The discs are clean (they are brand new, just opened) and I have already cleared the cache several times.

    Any thoughts?

    HD-DVD not working now...

    My HD DVD player no longer plays HD DVDs after the latest update. It still plays DVDs. With HD DVDs it starts to load the movie, then crashes back to the XBOX home screen. Anyone have any useful tips?

    I know, right?!

    In any case, it could be how the discs are encoded, could be your drive, your laser, your drive's firmware, anything. Try deleting and redownloading the optional codec pack on your console.

    In any case, it could be how the discs are encoded, could be your drive, your laser, your drive's firmware, anything. Try deleting and redownloading the optional codec pack on your console.

    G'day Cinamaroll! Sorry to hear about the DVD troubles.

    What happens when you try to play those two discs? What error appears?

    Try cleaning the discs with a soft cloth,
    like so    .

    If they continue to not read,
    clear the cache     and reboot your console.

    Let us how how that goes, and we'll go from there.

    No issues with the other discs, they all work fine. They are DVDs and are Region 1. The box even says not for sale outside of USA and Canada.

    I've tried shutting it down, but the same thing happens and it's only on those 2 discs. Could it be a manufacture error that my computer is able to handle, but not my 360?
