  1. XBOX 360 will not display picture or sound through HDMI on a specific TV

I have seen many questions on this, but the main response is to start another thread.

I usually run my XBOX 360 via HDMI through my main TV: an Insignia N8 LCD42HD.

Last night I unplugged the XBOX to run it through a projector using an HMDI to composite video cable. The connection did not work, so I plugged it back into my main TV.

The original TV recognizes there is an input, but I only get a black (not blank) screen and no sound. The TV says it is getting an SD input at 1p.

I have tried most configurations of plugging/unplugging, cycling inputs.

I know it is not a problem with the XBOX, as I have succeeded in running it through a newer TV using the same HDMI cable. It works there just fine.

I would like to run the XBOX through the original TV. Any help is appreciated.

    :)

    Another Problem with HDMI :S

Hey there! When you connect via HDMI, do you get sound but no picture? Or are both sound and picture absent? Do component cables work to connect your console to your TV? Does the picture/sound appear to be fine if you use component?

Have you tried resetting your display settings? At the bottom of this page are instructions on how to reset your display settings:

    support.xbox.com/.../image-on-your-tv-is-unclear
. Let us know how that works for you and we'll go from there! ^_^

  3. Live TV not working with HDMI in

Hi I am trying to use a composite to hdmi converter to watch live tv on my xbox one. I am getting neither picture nor sound. The same setup works if I plug in the hdmi directly into the tv. Is this a general bug or could my specific unit be at fault? I have
had success inputting hdmi input from a roku and xbox 360.

    Thanks.

    Audio set up issues

I’m very happy with mine too, however, when I use the sound bar for pass through and select arc I get no sound or picture and have to run it through the hdmi option. If I connect the Xbox to the tv hdmi 2 and then the sound bar to hdmi 3(arc) I get picture
with no sound despite all settings suggesting that it should work. If I use an in built app on the tv and watch it through arc it works perfectly. All mildly frustrating.

5.1 sounds WITH sound on TV

There really shouldn't be any PQ/AQ issues caused by running video & sound through HDMI. That's HDMI's job. It sounds like your PQ problem is a either a setting in the 360's menu or poor picture calibration on your display. The issue of the sound randomly
switching from 2 channel to 5.1 channel modes may have to do with your having the 360 connected to the TV via HDMI. I'm guessing you have the 360 set for 5.1 channel operation since you're running an optical cable to your receiver? Since HDMI is a two-way
connection, the 360 may be detecting the TV as a 2-channel device, causing confusion with your manually input 5.1 selection. I may be way off base though, as I've never run into this issue (and never had to diagnose it). The best way you could run your setup
would be the way I'm running mine... 360 HDMI to receiver, then receiver HDMI to display. If your display has an audio output, you could try running everything via HDMI to the display (which you are doing anyway), then running the audio from the TV to the
receiver. My Bravia has an optical output, but I prefer running HDMI to the receiver first as it's simpler connections & operation.

    HDMI

I would suggest if it the picture of the monitor or TV try changing the setting that can change how the picture looks.

Go to sound & display -----> video output ----- > display resolution 1080p

advanced -----> video fidelity & overscan have display HDMI

Xbox 360 won't connect through HDMI on certain TV's?

I don't know which Xbox 360 you have, but I have the Slim and on the Slims (I'm not sure if this is the same for the Phat Xbox 360s as well), the Xbox 360 console will not startup or login or display a picture until the TV is on and a solid display connection
is verified. My guess is that it may be your console not accepting signals from certain TVs that its on and accepting the HDMI picture. Again, this is a guess, because maybe the TV not showing a picture has a bad HDMI port or something like that. I would go
to your console, put the display settings on something totally random and different from what you usually have, and then test your console again (maybe with a different HDMI cable) on the TV you want and then tell us what happened. If the problem still persists,
maybe your console has to be repaired?
