Xbox 360 will not connect to wifi

Hi, my xbox 360 will not connect to the wifi internet, and a wired connection is not possible. I have worked through the suggested steps that the console gave, as well as trying to manually assign the IP address, with no luck. Below I will post info that
could help. If I am missing anything, please let me know. Thank you in advance for all the help!

Things you have tried: unplug xbox then modem/router, let sit for 5 minutes, restore 360's wireless stuff to factory defaults, manually assign IP address.

Xbox 360 will not connect to WIFI at motel. (Innflux)

I cannot connect to the WIFI at my motel. I am required to put in a wifi code and fill in (on the Internet) name, room number and code for free wifi. My Xbox 360 will not connect to it. Help!!!

 

Why won't my xbox 360 connect

So my xbox 360 will connect to my straight talk hotspot but it will not connect to xbox live or internet for some reason it works through wifi. Plz help

Does your Xbox 360 console detect your WiFi? If so, do you get any error message when trying to connect to your WiFi? Additionally, could you post up the specific Xbox 360 model you have (Original, Elite, S, or E)?

To start, let's try making sure your MediaLink has the proper settings enabled. On your PC, log into the router and change the wireless security to WEP mode. We've seen issues with MediaLink routers in the past where a similar issue that you've described
will occur if your router is not set to WEP. Steps for this should be located in the users manual.

Let us know that information above if changing your routers wireless security to WEP does not work. Thanks!

 

Buy a external wireless adapter

 

Hi, thanks for the responses. Yes, th 360 can recognize and see the wifi network. No, there is no specific error message, only cannot connect to the network. And finally, the 360 is a 360 E type.

When I change the encryption type to WEP, the console will connect. good news! Thank you for the tip.

However, WEP is basically unsecured, and I would strongly prefer to have WPA2 encryption on my network. WEP is not wired equivalent and can easily be cracked by a commonplace hacker. From what you have told me, do you think the medialink router with WPA2
encrytion will likely not work for whatever reason? If so, maybe I should buy another router that will work with the 360 with WPA2 encryption.
