    Xbox 360 usb ports live all the time even when Xbox 360 is off?


    Hello all,I am adding a external hard drive to a Xbox 360 via the usb port.Are all the usb ports live all the time,even when the Xbox 360 is off? the external hard drive is on all the time,even with Xbox 360 shut off? Is there one usb port that
    goes off with the Xbox 360? Thankyou for any answer to this question.

    Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with using an external drive for more storage on Xbox
    360. As per your question above, it varies on the drive. For example, if the External HD is only USB this will be powered by the console. If the External HD has a USB and power cord then the source is coming from the plug and not the console.

    The USB ports should not be live if the console is off. AFAIK, the 360 does not have an instant on feature so that would mean there is no power to the components.
    weird my passport drive is running when plugged into the 360's usb with the 360 powered off.

    should my passport external usb drive come on when plugged in to rear usb port on the Xbox 360S?
