Xbox 360 turning off

My xbox 360 turns off whenever a game is played. I can watch Netflix, DVD's and putz around for as long as I like, but as soon as I try to play a game, either on disc or one I've downloaded it turns off within seconds.

If you use a power surge protector or power extension lead then try connecting the Xbox power supply directly to the mains power outlet as those devices can cause issues.

Since EggsBoxJuan's answer is the best we can give you, which is contacting support, I'm just going to make this a suggested answer, copy/paste his answer, and add my own bit to it. You also got to make sure that your console is not in a cluttered space.
Playing a game overheats the console faster and hotter, more so than watching videos on netflix. Now, here's Eggs answer:

just to add: generally, if your console is shutting off due to heat, you would see two sections of the ring light up red. top left and bottom left. also once you turn the console back on, you'd be presented with a message explaining that the system was
turned off due to overheating to prevent more damage. this is different than the RROD with 3 lights which indicates a full hardware failure, but eventually it can lead to this.
