Xbox 360 text messaging stopped working in August 2018

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue. I would say that if you are experiencing problems on the 360, it might be best for you to rollback (uninstall and reinstall) your console updates. When you get a chance, follow the steps listed under

I was banned for not observing political correctness on Xbox 360 text messaging for 2 weeks ending an hour ago or so.

2 hours after being banned, I receive a message thanking me to making xbox live a safer place. Go figure? The appeals process is broken. No boiler plate offence notification should ever be used, but rather a specific indication of the offense: You messages
gamer xyx with the text "blah blah, etc" at date / time / timezone time stamp that violated web linked rule. What do you have to say in your defense? Otherwise, there is no telling what of many messages or many users or various instances this could have been--without
which information there can be no extenuating or mitigating circumstances, etc, in order to formulate a meaningful defense / rebuttal of the claim.

During the banning time, I activated a second account with a 2 weeks trial code for Xbox gold. I was able to send text message to recent player including multiple of them with ease. So it is not my console, nor my internet connection, nor my disk cache or
any of the usual finger pointing issues. Someone at Microsoft put a shadow ban on me starting in August 2018, and I just tested it about 30 minutes ago, and even after the ban has been lifted and no error message to that effect came up like it did when I had
been banned, the same fake / pretend sending of the message is still happening as I described in my initial question above.

I just was on 3 live chats where some wires were crossed because I had signed into Microsoft Edge browser using my trial account, while describing my problems with my main account. They wanted me to jump through hoops, but instead I ended the chat, logged
off of my trial account on MS Edge, logged in with my main account, then suddenly I can never get a Live person in support chat again. "An error happened connecting you with a real person -- try again." The try again never works, and re-doing things keeps
connecting me with the virtual agent in an endless loop. Fun times...

I removed my xbox live gamer profile, and also did Solution 7 to re-apply console updates, then downloaded my xbox live gamer profile. All of these were successful, however, when I sent a single character text message of question mark to a recent player
list member, the message, again, pretended that it was sending it, displayed no warnings or error messages, but that recipient and message did not get into the Windows 10 Xbox app list of conversations.

I sent another message to a Friends request recipient who has not approved it. The message did not send.

I sent another message to an existing friend and it did work. (Mod Removed)

The problem is not my account, but some unknown, unannounced enforcement action that may have been prompted by my strong anti-hacker efforts of precisely what has been blocked--the warning of fellow Xbox game lobby members that a hacker is cheating in the
current game, etc.

This probably resulted when political lobbying by these hackers had a software update applied that prevented me from warning other players of hackers due to unearned "poor reputation numbers" inserted by hackers for example when they hacked 1,000 new Gold
live memberships into existence and wanted and got retribution for me contributing to them being hit with a ban on their prior xbox live gold account by providing poor reputation input towards my account.

This situation is super stupid since it permits hackers to continue their harmful deeds while at the same time punishing me for having gotten hackers rightfully banned from the service temporarily since they can auto generate a new Gold membership code at
the drop of a hat, sign back on then file a complaint or reputation strike against me.

Thanks for coming back to the forums. With the way the reputation system is set up, there are many ways to either go down in reputation and also, go back up in reputation. Unfortunately, you have experienced many reports to get you down to needs work status.
This is only one tier of the ranking system that can be overcome by staying in matches completely without leaving in middle. Also with other ways that I posted earlier. The first paragraph on the how do I page for reputation states:

This system was designed to better your overall experience on Xbox Live by helping to improve the way that players interact with each other on the service. At its most basic, the reputation system rewards positive behavior (such as playing
fairly and with good sportsmanship), and creates a downside for those that exhibit poor behavior (such as cursing, being disrespectful, or cheating).

With this being said I will be locking this thread as we have given you the information on the reputation system and how it works.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. Understand you are having issues sending voice messages via the Xbox 360 console. When your reputation is low you can build it back up. It is hard but possible to do. You can visit the Enforcement site "how
do I" section to look up reputation and how to build it back up.

Here is a couple samples of things to do to improve it.

1. Avoid making unsportsmanlike comments.Smack talk is an understandable part of competitive online gaming, but not all players react to smack talk in the same way. Routinely making snarky or condescending comments, regardless of whether you
   won or lost the match, will increase the likelihood of receiving negative feedback. Smack talk may be viewed as even less appropriate if the particular game or gametype that you’re playing is not intended to be competitive.
2. 
   Play a wide range of games and gametypes.
   
   If you routinely receive negative feedback due to unsportsmanlike behavior or communications in a specific game or gametype, it may become more challenging to find good matches or new players in that game title. By playing different
   games and interacting with other players in a positive and productive way, your reputation score can improve.

This is unsatisfactory. There is no indication of how many favorable "votes" that I must get to get back in the green.

Plus communications WITH FRIENDS should never be CUT OFF FOR NO REAL FRIGGING REASONS as it is with voice messaging.

I FOUND OUT ANOTHER LIMITATION.

I cannot invite friends to a game with an open slot or two for others to join. Why is game inviting prohibited. Seems like this scheme was very extremely badly designed, poorly thought out.

Consider my point of view as completely accurate that all of the hackers that I have gotten banned generated gold membership Live codes then submitted FALSE information especially those who accused me of hacking/cheating. Recall that they can't have proof
of something that does not exist, yet I have uploaded proof of them cheating to YouTube. And those cheaters were allowed to continue playing for as many as 4 years without affecting their game play on Live.

Indications are that the largest percentage of people have indicated poor conduct--a lie. The entire premise of this reputation scoring system is shameful to say the least.

Xbox 360 to send messages you have to have gold,
Versions of W10 and Xbox One can send messages without gold.
