Xbox 360 system update issues

Hi, been trying to update my xbox 360 after it was reset back to factory defaults.

I have followed all the instruction multiple time on this link Download Xbox Game Support Updates from Official Microsoft Download Center with disks and thumb drive (fat32) and it either does nothing or says unrecognized disk.

I also followed the instructions from this link How to Get a New Xbox 360 Update again with a thumb stick and disks. Thumb stick does nothing and the disk drive says it is a mixed media
disk but doesn't start the install.

I also have tried the update from xbox live, but I don't get an option to ok updates.

Does anybody know why this would be happening, and how I can get the system updates installed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, let's try to get you back online! I see you've tried various ways to update the console. If you haven't already, we suggest you try

rolling back that last update by doing the following:

1. Clear the system cache. To do this, see the "Clear the system cache" section above.
   
2. Roll back and then reinstall system updates. To do this:
   1. Press the Guide button
      on your controller.
   2. Go to settings and select System.
   3. Select Storage.
   4. Enter the following button sequence: X, LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X.
      
   5. Select the option to roll back all system updates that are installed. The console will restart automatically and then download the updates again.

Hi Lance, Thanks for the help. It seemed to work and the system updated automatically from Xbox live. Do the updates from Xbox live include the backward compatibility updates for original Xbox games?

I also noticed in network settings > Test Xbox live connection there is an ! next to service and it says Service Aleert. Is this something I should be concerned about?

When you run an Xbox update, Consoles connected to Xbox Live will have the latest console software. If you would like more information for any current
Service Alerts.

At this moment, there is no active alert. Does the alert on the Xbox provide any information?

Does Xbox live only auto update or is there some way to run an update manually, and do these updates include the backwards compatibility to play original Xbox games.

Thanks for the reply.

I recommend checking out troubleshooting article to help assist with
Updates for Xbox 360.

Backwards compatible games are affected if the title is not on the compatible list. As long as the game is on the

compatibility list you will have no issues playing Single Player or Split-Screen. This is ONLY when playing an original XBOX game.
