XBOX 360 system update from Xbox live required

Help!

We have booted up our ancient Xbox 360 after about 2 years in the cupboard and every game we try to play it is demanding we run a system update.

However when we run it it comes up with this error "cant download the update, test your connection Status code 4497 - 0000- 3080-0502-8007-2AF9

Our internet connection isn't great but all our other devices are working ok off the wifi, so wondering if there is any other issues?

I have cleared storage and cache, should this be an easy update or is our console just too old?

Try connecting the console to your network hardware with wired ethernet cable instead of WiFi to do the update. You can revert back to WiFi after its updated if you want, but wired connection is more stable and not prone to signal interference, which
you may be getting from "all our other devices".

This error occurs if your console has been tampered with or modified. Your console can no longer connect to Xbox LIVE, install software updates, or play new games that require a console software update.

Hi there,

when you connect to Xbox Live you are required to update to the latest dashboard update, there is no way to stay on an older update when connecting to Xbox Live.

Looking at your error code and the link given by Tgeekster, you problem is narrowed down to the following:

The update could not be downloaded from Xbox LIVE due to error code in the following format xxxx-xxxx-xx8x-xxxx-8015-xxxx

Since you can connect to the internet but can't get the update from Xbox Live online, you need to download the update to the USB drive and manually update your xbox. See this

support.xbox.com/.../system-update-help and in particular Solution #5
support.xbox.com/.../system-update-help but make sure you meet all the steps required before getting to Solution #5. Hope this helps
