Xbox 360 support ending 2018?

From research I have found out that xbox 360 support will be ending in 2018. Is this true?

When will 3rd party support dry up for last gen

Fall 2015 will be the end of support. The only reason Microsoft is doing this is the 360 sold very well in the last few years and it would create bad PR if they cut and run like they did on the original Xbox.

 

Will the original Xbox be discontinued?

They discontinued the manufacturing end when the 360 came out, didn't they? As for repair support, that was discontinued a couple of years ago according to what I have read. That is Microsoft support, of course, and I would guess there are many sources out there for working on any problems with the original Xbox.

 

There has been no official word from Microsoft on when Live for the 360 will shut down.

Given that they are making more and more games backward compatible, and those games require the 360 version of Live, then it's future should be good for more than two years.

 

Support will probably end 2018, but that doesn't mean that Jan 1st 2018 your 360 will suddenly blow up. You'll still be able to play all your games etc. it just means that Microsoft will no longer be developing new OS updates for it, they wont be making
new games/apps for it, and possibly some games/features may get stopped (similar way to EA shutting down servers for older games)

 

Some game developers are not making new games for the 360, Ubisoft has decided not to make any more games for the 360 and ps3. This means that the 360 could be not supported from next year or 2018.

 

And so the rumors are true it seems.

 

Well from June 14 - 16 there will be the Electronic Entertainment Expo. So Microsoft will probably announce just when Xbox 360 will end. Then I will know for sure.

 

Microsoft has stopped phone support. I called today and phone support not available told to go online and they hang up.

Also Microsoft actually is preventing Silver accounts from using any Video app. If you are logged in ad try to use an App like Netflix the xbox actually logs you out and then says this app can't be used unless logged in to xbox live. So I log in and try
to open app and same thing the xbox logs out and then give s the same message.

 

I've never had a Gold account so I stay aware of Microsoft's occasional Free Play weekends. The May 2018 FP weekend included the 360 but this weekend's August 2018 weekend is for the Xbox One only. Another brick in the wall.
